Rocket Report

Vol. 3, No. 4, August 29, 2019
Words with Wilson
Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend the day with our 8th grade class at CYO Camp Rancho Framasa. The day couldn’t have been better. The weather was perfect, and the kids were outstanding.

We started the day as a whole group playing some fun games, and then transitioned into small group activities. THe students were broken into groups and participated in some challenge activities that forced them out of their comfort zones. It was awesome to see some of our quieter students find their voice, and help their group overcome the challenge they were facing.

In the afternoon, we had the great opportunity to participate in the high ropes course. Students were really pushed out of their comfort zone, and responded amazingly. Every student tried the high ropes course. Their classmates cheered them on and encouraged them to conquer their fears. As I stood there watching, I was filled with pride.

Canoes, kayaking and archery finished our afternoon. After dinner, we ended the day with a prayer service. It was great to be in nature and feel one with the class, and one with God! It was a great day to be a Rocket!

Here is what the 8th grade had to say:

Jack Reed, “The canoeing was awesome, although a few canoes did flip over I stayed dry! Everyone was safe and had fun!”

Kyla Renfro, “The swings were the BEST! The first drop was a little scary and made me scream, but then it was fun. It was a great experience!”

Mike Riedeman, “ I enjoyed seeing the jellyfish in the lake. I also enjoyed the nostalgic memories being at Camp Rancho Framasa brought back to me from my childhood. Overall it was a great time! I hope the tradition continues.”

Maylee Johnson, “I liked canoeing and low ropes. It was cool getting to know and hang out with people I normally do not hang out with!”
