The Mountain Club on Loon shares the same concern as you about coronavirus (COVID-19) and how it is causing anxiety and fear. Our priority is the health and safety of our Owners, our Employees, and the Community. While we continue to monitor this situation closely, we are actively taking steps to provide you with the service that you expect once this situation abets.
On March 26th, The State of New Hampshire designated The Mountain Club as an "Essential Business" as we became a shelter for First Responders. If the State sends us a first responder needing to be quarantined, then our plan is to utilize a section of the building only for this program. Our relationship with the state is one where the state pays all costs plus other benefits to The Mountain Club. To date we have had one person (he was not sick and did not need to be quarantined) come to us from the state.
The state's "Essential" designation allowed our core staff to remain employed. Our housekeeping department has General Cleaned over 60 units and the Engineering Department continues to go unit by unit making cosmetic and major repairs. The Spa and Wellness Center, with Debbie Woodman leading the way, has kept three staff members busy with repairs to tubs and pools, with cleaning and painting throughout. The core group of our Front Desk and Reservations teams continues to do 24-hour security of the building and grounds. While Judy Wilson and her accounting team have been working here and at home trying to keep up with all the accounting, payroll, re-forecasting and cash flow analysis. Finally, on April 14th, we began the refurbishment plan of 12 Studio units in the spa wing or phase one.
We know how the Covid-19 has made it financially difficult on families and businesses, so our Board of Directors, along with management, have developed a plan to assist those Owners that may need a deferment of Quarterly dues. While many things may feel out of our control, we're focusing on what we can control. For our Owners, that are unable to make a payment due to COVID-19 and are presently current with their dues account, we want you to know that we're here to help support you. If you require a payment deferment, please submit your request in writing or email to me here at the resort.
We greatly appreciate you paying your dues as someday soon this closure status will change to "open", and when it does The Mountain Club will be ready for owners and their families to enjoy. Together we will make it through this terrible pandemic. Our world might not ever be the same, but it might be better someday soon.
You are not expected to do all the heavy lifting. On April 14th we received approval to participate in the Payroll Protection Act. It is likely we will be reimbursed for a good portion our payroll costs for the next 8 weeks; allowing us to continue to get your resort ready for the call to open for the season. Also, we are working with our insurance company on a "business interruption" claim due to the pandemic.
Please, let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your continued support.
Again, we hope you and your family are well and safe.
Sincerely yours,
Jeffrey O. McIver
