Greetings!

We hope that this email finds you and your loved ones healthy and in high spirits as we move into the spring weather of May. In our efforts to help the community find connection and solace in nature, we hope you enjoy exploring the featured property below, Barclay Pond. The Barclay Pond trails are a beautiful place to walk right now, with Canada Mayflower buds emerging(pictured above), blueberry bushes leafing out, mayflowers/trailing arbutus (pictured) and a variety of birds to view. A few lucky visitors have reported a congregation of egrets by the shore, and colorful songbirds returning to the area. It's a relaxing and peaceful place, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Click here for maps of some great walking trails around Chatham, and please stay healthy.

Featured Property - Barclay Pond

Don't know where to start exploring? Try Barclay Pond:

Through purchases or gifts to CCF, 1968-1985, three parcels of land have been combined to create over 46 conservation acres named after the first parcel donor, William H. Barclay. Made up almost totally of woodland featuring pitch pine and oak, the property is habitat to mammal and bird life typical of such habitat. The three ponds - Barclay, Mary's Pond, and Schoolhouse Pond are visited by waterfowl in season. Combined with adjacent Town Land (The Training Field Triangle and George Ryder Gift), a corridor of 116 acres is conserved.

The entrance to the 1.25 mile trail is located off Old Queen Anne Road. Parking is available at the entrance to the trail.

More trails and maps can be found on our website, just click here or in front of our headquarters at the Mayo House.
Baby Turtle Sighting

This baby painted turtle was found by our Land Steward Julie Baca on our Frost Fish Creek trail.

Please help us protect this critical habitat by voting at Town Meeting to support the Chatham CPC recommendation for a grant of $85,000 to CCF for important studies at Frost Fish Creek.
