Today, I want to share with you how we are newly engaging with our school partners while we shelter in place. With the generous support of our members and donors, we've been able to continue to serve hundreds of children with live classes via zoom for our Evanston students, and recorded video lessons through our Youtube channel for our Chicago Public School students. Our teachers and community partners are grateful that we can maintain our programs and bring art into their students' lives while they are e-learning from home.

Below, we'd like to highlight a video lesson made in April by long-time Art Encounter teaching artist Yadi Royster. She first led this project as a live workshop with Evanston students in our after-school partnership with Y.O.U ., then filmed the lesson for our Chicago Public School students at Goethe, Haugan, Darwin, North River, and Otis elementary schools. This project encourages students to see that creativity is in everything, and that everyday objects can transform into thoughtful works of art with a little imagination.

We wouldn't be able to continue this important work without your help. Our postponed Gala and cancelled in-person trips and tours usually provide essential financial support for our outreach programs, and you have helped to fill the gap. If you have already contributed to our spring fundraiser, we thank you. If you haven't, we humbly ask you to consider a donation today. A contribution of any amount will help us continue to bring art to our communities, now and in the future.

With warm thanks and good wishes for your health,
Lea Pinsky, Executive Director

Thank you all for your continued support of Art Encounter.
Will you help us reach our spring fundraising goal of $50,000?
Art Encounter  |  artencounter.org

At Art Encounter, we believe that art has the power to help us better understand ourselves and the world around us. Everyone should have access to art, so we take people to art and bring art to people. Our mission is to educate, empower, and connect people of all ages and backgrounds through interactive encounters with art. We take members into artists’ studios and private collections, leading conversations that connect them with the art and with one another. Our outreach programs bring enriching art experiences to ten times as many, in the public schools and in senior residences. And our murals transform the walls and the lives of the whole community.
