From the Desk of Our Executive Director

Dear 4Cs Community,
This is such an exciting time of year! School is back in session in most of the communities we serve, and our 4Cs Community Closet has been busy getting those families off to a great start.

We recently held two Back to School events, one at our Oakland location and the other at our Hayward location. We gave away hundreds of back packs, diapers and formula, books and school supplies, food and clothing - items some of us take for granted.

The huge attendee turnout at these events confirm the need and value of providing concrete supports to our community members. We also witnessed an inspiring outpouring of generosity from individuals, partner organizations and foundations who want to help us provide this support. For all the details and photos from the events, visit our Facebook page.

At 4Cs, we get so much joy out of these programs, knowing that we make families' lives easier and a little less stressful.

We would love to expand our Community Closet giveaway programs, but we need  your help!

We need to increase our supply of diapers and baby wipes. Your partnership and support by donating to this program is welcomed! You can support this wonderful program in two easy ways:

1. Drop off diapers and/or baby wipes at any of 4Cs' offices

2. Make a monetary donation and we will purchase the diapers and wipes on your behalf.

For just $50, you can provide a family with a one month supply of diapers and wipes. But any size donation is always appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your support.  Have a great 2019-20 school year!

Be well,
Renee

Farewell to two valued 4Cs team members
Deep gratitude for over 20 years of community service

Sharyn McDavid-Noonan
Shannon Griffin
Recently we bid farewell to Shannon Griffin, Manager of CalWORKs 1 programs and
Sharyn McDavid-Noonan, Manager of Resource & Referral.

Both of these ladies served the community in leadership with 4Cs for more than 20 years. Our agency and our community is better because of them. We will miss working with them, but we wish them all the best in their next chapter of life. They are Champions for Children.
All are welcome in Alameda!
Immigration: Understanding "Public Charge"

In the current political climate, it's critical that everyone, particularly families of mixed immigration status, understand their rights. Do you know what "public charge" means? There are a variety of organizations in Alameda who are here to support families who may be experiencing fear or confusion.

Here are three important tips:
  1. The federal government does not access public benefits systems for immigration enforcement.
  2. Information you've shared for public benefits is only used for eligibility determination.
  3. It is important that you continue to receive the support that helps your family be healthy, fed and in secure housing.
