Message from our Pastor, Father Phil Reifenberg

Dear Parishioners:
The day after I submitted last week’s article for the bulletin, the Wisconsin State Supreme Court delivered its ruling against Governor Evers’ “Safer at Home” protocols. The day after that, Archbishop Listecki issued a document entitled “The Catholic Comeback Matrix,” which outlines parameters for a broad range of Church and parish activities, including the celebration of Sunday Mass. Rather than try to summarize the nine-page chart for you, I would encourage you to look at it for yourselves. You can access the Matrix on-line by clicking on the button below.

Back to Mass
Registration opens May 26 at Noon
Beginning next weekend St. John the Baptist will resume the celebration of public Sunday Masses, (including the Saturday Mass of Anticipation) We want you to be comfortable in returning to a safe and stress-free environment, therefore we are requiring advanced registration, with tickets, to attend Mass. Registration opens every Tuesday at noon for the following weekend. Parishioners may register themselves and family members on our
website, or by calling the parish office.
*Communal Anointing for May 31 is canceled.
*Weekday Masses are celebrated with fewer than 10 in attendance and no tickets are required. If you wish to attend Mass during the week, please contact the parish office at 920-892-4006.
|
|
Those who have a fever or are experiencing flu-like symptoms should not attempt coming to Mass. Moreover, people over the age of 65 and those with compromised auto-immune systems and/or pre-existing health issues that render them more susceptible to infections or respiratory difficulties should consider staying away, as well. The Archbishop has extended his dispensation to all Catholics in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, no matter their age, from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass through Sunday, July 5th.
|
|
Father Phil continues to offer Mass privately for our requested intentions. Please keep our parish Mass Intentions in your daily prayers as well.
Contact the Parish Office at 892-4006 to request a Mass Intention or request to
attend a scheduled Mass.

Prayer for the Fallen
God our creator and sustainer,
today our country brings to our memory
those who have defended this nation in times of trouble.
They have sacrificed their lives to protect our shores
from those who would limit our freedoms
or enslave us to ways that are against your will.
Bring all those who have died in service to our country
into your heavenly presence.
We humbly call down your blessing on those still serving;
grant your heavenly protection to these men and women,
and open your Sacred Heart to give them peace and comfort.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

On this past Wednesday, May 20, our parish community prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for the sixth (and final!) over Facebook Live. While we won't be praying the Chaplet together over Facebook in the future, you are invited to continue praying the Rosary with us for the last two Fridays in May -- May 22 and May 29 -- over Facebook. Join us in prayer for the victims of this pandemic!

Start your engines! Or at least have them idling!! We are hoping to have the SJB concession stand at Road America open for business soon. However, following the Archdiocese’s “Catholic Comeback” guidelines, we will have to begin the season without volunteers. We know many of you are anxiously waiting to sign up to volunteer at the new concession stand (and we want to show it off!). Our RA crew has been working hard setting up and cleaning the new concession stand in preparation for the race season. Our number one priority is the health and safety of our volunteers, staff, and guests.
Road America is hosting the MotoAmerica Superbike Series event, without fans, on May 29-31. This will be opening weekend for the new concession stand if everything goes as planned. We will have a limited menu and limited staff working that weekend. This may turn out to be a blessing in disguise, as it will enable us to “fine-tune” our new “engine” (operation). Then we’ll be ready for the green flag! We look forward to having our volunteers back, as the concession stand revenue remains an important fundraiser for our parish. We will keep you posted. As for right now, keep those engines idling!

Virtual Learning - HOME RUN!
This week virtual learning was a "home run" for Grades 1-3! Each week the teachers meet with their students virtually doing lessons and sharing presentations. This week grades 1-3 joined together in one google meet to see a special guest appear on their screens. Bernie Brewer, the beloved mascot of the Milwaukee Brewers, made a guest appearance. During this time apart, the students and their teachers continue to put forth 100% toward learning.

Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.
These words will echo in parishes across the Archdiocese on Pentecost Sunday when we can join together in the celebration of Mass after an 11-week absence. How appropriate!
As we cautiously and carefully emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, the descent of the Holy Spirit is commemorated.
Come Holy Spirit, come! Your parish needs you.
Your
gift of time
is needed to help your parish put into place the proper precautions and accommodations to ensure the safety of all parishioners.
Your
gift of talent
is needed to assist at the parish in new and necessary ministries.
Your
gift of treasure
is needed to fund unexpected expenses.
Your gift of ANY size will help! This link will connect you to your parish website where you can give online as well as find contact information.
|
|
No matter the gift, it is needed and appreciated.
The Catholic community always comes together in times of crisis.
We can do more – and emerge stronger – together.
