Superintendent's Welcome

In his first letter to the community, Superintendent Pasquale Scuderi speaks of the need for engaging students, creating collaborative relationships, and looking for new and inspiring approaches to education - even as we preserve what is currently working well.

" If we commit together, as educators and as a community, to the continuous exploration of innovative, relevant, and creative ways to engage our students," he writes, "we can fuel their curiosity, peak their interest, and unleash their imaginations." The full letter is here.

Applications Available for Measure B1 and Measure I Oversight Committees

The Alameda Unified School District is now accepting applications for both the Measure B1 and Measure I Oversight Committees. Measure B1 is a parcel tax that supports 11 educational categories in AUSD. Measure I is a $179.5 million facilities bond that is funding modernization at AUSD school sites. This is a great opportunity for community members who would like to learn more about public education funding and how AUSD manages its budget.

Fundraising Effort Helps AUSD Pay off 2018-19 Lunch Balances

We'd like to send an enormous thank you to the kind and generous community members who donated to the recent fundraising efforts to pay off the 2018-19 outstanding meal balances for AUSD families.
Organizers Laura Gamble and Suzanne Vinson rallied people to donate more than $6000 between July 1 and August 22. We are incredibly grateful!

Kudos to...

...Three Alameda High School students who designed a new logo for the Alameda Food Bank last spring. The three students (Talia Grumet and Hailey Jiang, who graduated in June, and Janine Barot, now a senior) created the design as part of their coursework in teacher Andrea Szeto's Advanced Multimedia Design class. The Food Bank's Board of Directors has approved the new logo.
