Welcome to our Unity of Columbus Newsletter.
The Freedom To Love
As we often say in Unity, "Love is the only enduring Power in the Universe." This month, as we shift our Sunday focus from self-love to love for others - compassion, kindness, agape love - I invite you to affirm for yourself:
"I am in love with Life. Life is in love with me! I am Divine Love in expression. With ease and grace, I give and receive love abundantly."
This Sunday, I will be exploring thoughts about that great Power of Love in a message entitled,
"The Freedom To Love, Part One." We will be blessed by the presence of renowned performer
Jim Maneri, and I invite you to join us for an uplifting spiritual experience this Sunday! You'll be glad you did!
In Love and Light,
Daryn L. Wells

Our Unity Care Team
is Here for You!
|
As a loving, spiritual community, the
Unity of Columbus Care Team seeks to serve members and their family and church friends in times of short-term needs and health challenges - as well as times of great joy and celebration.
We feel honored and blessed to serve our members and friends who so graciously and gratefully receive it. And, as the Universe would have it, the giver and the receiver are one, so YOU benefit, too!
This team is a very important part of our ministry.
Our Care Team volunteers are committed to make calls to home or hospital in challenging times, send cards of support, and offer comfort to our spiritual family.
(
NOTE: Volunteer support does
not include legal, medical, or financial advice or assistance.)

Adult Sunday School Returns
September 8 9:30 a.m.
"Riches and Honor!"
an Edwene Gaines Study Series
*Rescheduled*
Fellow Truth Seekers - and Finders:
This 4-week class is an invitation to take a deeper look at the story of Solomon in the Hebrew Scriptures; how does this account from the Bible (about the richest man of his time and the splendor and wealth of Israel during his reign as its king) fit into our lives - and our collective story - today?
For each session, we will listen to beloved Unity prosperity teacher, Rev. Edwene, speaking on this subject, with her unique combination of wit, homespun wisdom, and timeless Truth.
Following the audio portion, we will have a time of Bible study and discussion.
September 8 - 29 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
Facilitated by Daryn L. Wells
We look forward to seeing you there!
Bring your Bibles (and your open, receptive minds)!

We are SO grateful to the generous donations so far to our "Drop In the Bucket" campaign!
***NOW EXTENDED!***
We've collected over
$4,000.00
towards our roof
! There are still some envelopes remaining - take advantage of this opportunity while you can.
Here's how it works:
Choose an envelope, or several, to match the
amount of your desired donation. Insert a check
with that amount, payable to "Unity of Columbus," noting it is for Unity roof repairs.
If donating by cash, or if your check does not provide address and phone, please write that information clearly on the back of the envelope for donor credit. Seal, then double-fold the envelope and insert it gently in the clear lockbox.
Thank you, and
bless you for your generosity!

***THIS SUNDAY - August 25***
Our Facilities Team will be presenting an update on the roof project at an informational session at 1:00 p.m.
We invite you to stay for this meeting!
Time will be allotted for questions / answers.

Our Annual 24-Hour Prayer Vigil
This Year's Affirmation:
"I celebrate the vast possibilities for my life."
Local Prayer Services at Unity of Columbus

Guiding Prayer
Breathing in to prayer, I am in awe of the unbound spirit, the infinite presence within and around me. God is vitality in my breath, beauty in the natural world, strength in my determination, and compassion in my acts of service. I recognize God in the spaciousness of the universe as well as in my limitless dreams.
Let me set my sight beyond where I have seen before, into the vast reality of divine power and presence. Let me draw upon divine power and presence in order to fulfill my great potential.
In the harmony of prayer, my heart beats to the rhythm of God.
The pulse of infinite life moves me, nourishes me,
and empowers me to give life to my dreams.

The Latest Booklet from Unity

Today, people everywhere are discovering that less is more - that real happiness -
true fulfillment - does not come from the accumulation of things...
Here is an excerpt from our new Unity booklet,
Simple Living: When Less Is More,
written by
Eric Butterworth, called
"On Relieving Stress..."
"There are many situations in which we may typically respond with stress: a multimillion dollar financial crunch for a business executive; an accumulation of bills to pay with the often inadequate take-home pay of the average worker; two term papers due on the same day for the student; a make-or-break audition for a musician or actor.
"When pressures exceed our limits, creativity disappears, errors multiply, and new challenges have to be met with tired replays of old strategies. Life becomes jittery and unpleasant, and subject to a wide range of physical ills.
"This word stress is heard so often today that it would almost appear to be some new disease."
