Office Hours: 8:30a.m. to 4:45p.m.

As Nease continues to grow, the traffic after school continues to increase. The turn lane on Ray Road has helped some with buses being able to get to the school, but we still have buses stuck in traffic. Starting Monday, 8/26, all parent loop traffic will have to turn right off of Ray Road onto Old Dixie and students leaving the student lot will have to turn left onto Ray Road. We are also asking that if your child doesn't have an appointment or practice right after school that you wait to pick them up. The media center is open every day after school M/F until 4:30pm, W until 3:30pm, and T/Th until 5pm . Students can sit in the air conditioning and start their homework instead of standing in the heat for 30-40 minutes at the parent loop.
Panther Pride Banners: With an objective of improving student technology availability at Nease, PTSO is selling Panther Pride banners for the fence around parent pickup line. All funds will go toward the purchase of a new portable computer cart with 30 laptops that teachers can check out and use to enhance student learning. PTSO has only sold 19 banners, well short of its goal of 200 banners to purchase the new computers. As our student population grows, we're continuing to keep up with technology needs with our limited school budget, so this effort is tremendously helpful. Panther Pride banners with your family's name cost $100 and will be hung all year long! PTSO is placing the next banner order is on Wed. Aug. 28. Stop by the PTSO table at Tuesday's Open House or purchase online:
https://neaseptsoboard.wixsite.com/nhsptso/donations
We hope that all of you will join us to meet your child's teachers during Open House on Tuesday, August 27th starting at 6pm. Parents will travel their child's schedule spending 10mins in each classroom.
Parking
We have many students that arrive late and leave early due to dual enrollment, co-op, and modified schedules. We have monitored the available parking spaces every period all week and feel that we can sell additional senior and junior parking tags.
To be considered, please review the following:
1. Your student
must
have a Valid Driver’s License at the time of application along with a vehicle that is available to your student daily Monday through Friday during normal school hours and valid insurance.
2. You must complete the parking application link below (even if you previously applied for Parking or a Waiting List) by
11:59 p.m. on August 30, 2019
. No exceptions will be made. ALL old waiting lists have been deleted!
Those selected for parking, will be notified via the email address provided during the application. Please ensure that you are including a valid email address. Those who enter an invalid email address may forfeit the spot and we will offer it to the next candidate.
Do you have old laptops lying around your house, just taking up space? Hugs Across the County is hosting a donation drive for used laptops for homeless students who need them! Drop off any old laptop you don't need anymore to Mrs. Ebersol in the front office or Mrs. Millian in the Media Center. All laptops donated will be refreshed and updated and all files on the computer will be securely wiped. Give your old
tech to those who need them today!
Each year schools are required to provide letters from the district to each family. In an effort to save paper, the letters can be viewed through the links below.
Our first School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting is August 29th at 8am in conference room 104 in main office. This meeting is open to all parents.

We played Ponte Vedra HS last night and even though we lost, the boys played extremely hard and our fans were amazing! The energy and school spirit that filled the stadium was unmatched! I was watching in awe and very proud to be a Panther!

t’s going to be another great year in Nease’s Academy classes! Read our August’s Academy Newsletter here:
Academy Newsletter - August
The Stellar Academy of Engineering wants to thank the Nease PTSO for their purchase of 10 3D printers and filaments for the Engineering Academy last year. This enabled us to enhance students' real-life application of STEM (e.g., engineering students created nose cone attachments for a rocket and Braille cubes). We plan to utilize the printers extensively this year and in coming years. The PTSO is conducting its annual membership drive and needs our help to continue to support Nease students. Here are the school counselor caseloads and appointment links:
Back to School Tips:
As we welcome everyone back to school, we want to share some tips to get the new year started. We hope that everyone has a great year!
- Get to know your teachers and school staff. We are here to help and assist you and you will want letters of recommendation from us one day. Don’t be shy about letting us know that you are struggling early on before it gets unmanageable.
- Get organized. Determine your system of keeping up with homework, upcoming projects, and tests. Do not let your grades fall because you lost a study guide or didn’t remember to turn in the major grade.
- Get a routine. Have a dedicated time that you work on school work, study, or prep your college applications. It is easy to procrastinate and fall asleep without preparing for the next day if you aren’t careful.
- Get involved. School is much more fun when you have something to be a part of. Join a club or a team where you can be a part of student life and make new friends.
Seniors:
It is time to start applying to college! In the next few weeks counselors will be coming to your English classes to talk about the process for applying to college and requesting transcripts. We encourage you to start thinking about what your plans are so that we can discuss them with you individually when we make it to your classes. If your test scores are not where you want them to be, now is the time to register for the next SAT and ACT. You can register for the SAT at
www.collegeboard.org
and the ACT at
www.actstudent.org
. We will also go over graduation requirements to make sure everyone is on the same page heading towards May 22
nd
!
Juniors:
This is your year! This will be the last full year that colleges see on your high school transcript prior to applying for college. It is important to make sure that you are doing your best. As we move throughout the school year, we will start encouraging you to take your SAT and ACT and going on college visits to schools that you may be interested in.
Sophomores:
This will be your year to take the PSAT and start thinking about your future after high school. It is important to make sure and keep your grades up so you keep your opportunities open.
Freshman:
Welcome to high school! From this point forward, all of your grades are a part of your permanent high school transcript that college will see when you apply. It is really important to start strong so that you do not spend the remainder of high school playing catch up. We are looking forward to getting to know you and helping you navigate this adventure!

Carolyn Milian – School Librarian Media Specialist
Lorna Patterson – Media Clerk
PARENT VOLUNTEERS:
Our media center is a VERY busy one and we are constantly in need of parents volunteers to help us out at the circulation desk! If you are able to help us out, please click on the link below to sign up for a morning or lunchtime session that you are available to come and “hang out” with the most awesome students in St. Johns County!
TEXTBOOK INFO:
We ask everyone to please be patient with us as it relates to textbooks. Our population has grown by leaps and bounds, and we are experiencing shortages in many subject area textbooks. This is a district-wide issue. I assure you that this is something we are addressing and working on daily. It may take several weeks before we have all the textbooks we need and the teachers will be aware of any textbook shortages we may be experiencing. Please be patient as we experience all these “growing pains”.
PLANNERS/STUDENT ID’s:
Freshmen have received a FREE Nease planner. If they lose it and need another one, the cost is $5. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors may purchase a planner for $5. These will be available in the Media Center.
ALL students will receive a new student ID for this school year. Students who have not yet received their ID may pick them up in the media center. Students
MUST
have their ID’s on them at all times on campus. If they are asked to present their ID by a dean or other faculty member and they do not have them, they WILL be required to purchase another one on the spot for $5 regardless of where their ID may be.
Please remind your student to carry their ID on them at all times and to take a picture of their ID to keep on their phone
. If they don’t have the physical card but have the picture, this will be acceptable. All NEW students will receive their first ID for free.
DONATIONS:
Because we are such a busy media center, we run out of supplies VERY quickly! We would be most appreciative of donations throughout the year of the following items: THANK YOU SO MUCH!
o
paper towel rolls
o
Kleenex
o
Lysol/Clorox wipes
o
Plastic forks/spoons
o
napkins
