A staged reading of an original full-length play by first year MFA Acting candidate Noah Keeling. An unapologetically queer coming-of-age teen comedy,
Someone With Nerve
depicts the senior year of Judah St. James, a 17-year-old boy determined to be on Broadway no matter what. So, when his director refuses to cast him as Mama Rose in this year’s musical, Gypsy, he devises the only logical solution: staging a one-man production of Gypsy, starring himself, the same weekend as the school’s production. What does it cost to be a star?

Follow her as she attempts to write a short story, maintain a long distance relationship, balance parental expectations, and not descend into madness.

|
Guy & Lady, two best friends struggling with their sexual identities, deal with navigating the platonic love they have for each other and the romantic love people tell them they are in. In this unconventional love story, interspersed with autobiographical asides, Guy & Lady try to overcome the great expectations everyone seems to have for them and how they want to live their lives.

Ms. Ariane Mnouchkine
is a founder and director of the Théâtre du Soleil in Paris. Since 1964, she has produced masterpieces with historical and political themes referring to traditional performances of both the East and the West. She started her theater in a transformed factory outside of Paris, where it embodies the ideal of “public theater.” Theatre du Soleil often uses physicality - inspired by Japanese Noh, Kabuki and Bunraku; Indian Kathakali; and Western works such as Shakespeare. Ms. Mnouchkine has been innovating theatrical expressions through her collaborative creations based on the methodology of her unique theatrical organization which eschews hierarchical order. She holds honorary doctorates from the University of Oxford and Roma III – and was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in 2007 by the Venice Biennale.

Honors Open Studios (Visual Arts)
|
The Undergraduate Studio Honors Program of the UC San Diego Visual Arts Department will be opening their doors to the public on March 11, 2020 from 2:00–6:00 pm.
Every year top students are selected by the faculty to join the Honors Program. This event will display the newest artworks made by this select group in recent months. The works on view display a wide breadth of mediums and concepts and as a whole demonstrates a dynamic group of young artists with distinct voices.
The included artists are: Lucy Bell, Jose Benitez, Michael Kalisz, Tula Oliver, Xiaoyu Ren, Lisa Resendiz, Pengbin Sun, Leslye Villaseñor, Megan Winegar, and Yan Yu.

During a mission trip to Thailand, four girls discover that their pastor has hidden a camera in their hotel bathroom. Their communal rage and disillusionment fuel increasingly violent revenge fantasies amidst the no-holds-barred neon bubblegum sex-tourism mecca of Bangkok.
Man of God
is a funny feminist thriller about that moment when girls realize the male gaze has been watching all along—and decide they’re definitely gonna do something about it.
