Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year!
Dear St. Rose School Families,

The start of a new school year evokes many emotions -- excitement, anticipation, curiosity, enthusiasm, reticence...you name it someone is feeling it. But overall it is a HAPPY time and we are overjoyed to welcome our students in Preschool through 8th grade to the 2019-2020 school year. It is going to be sensational!

The Administrative staff has been working diligently over the summer to ensure an exceptional year. Teachers are hard at work readying their classrooms and preparing lessons to give every student a phenomenal learning experience. We are all a team and parents are key players -- together we make St. Rose School a special place. We have a rich history and a bright future.

As you prepare for the first day of school, August 28th, here are some things to remember:

  • Early dismissal 8/28 at 11:30 p.m.
  • Summer uniform is in effect beginning the first day. Contact Lands End or the uniform exchange, uniforms@srles.com for any items you need
  • Summer work is on the website,https://www.stroseschool.com/academics/summer-work-2019

The first couple of weeks are an adjustment, for both new and returning students; faculty and administration too! We all have to switch into "school gear" but it will happen. Please feel free to contact the office with any questions or concerns.

The Friday newsletter will continue to be our main mode of communication. You can look out for it after 5:00 PM. We hope you find it to be a helpful resource for school news and happenings. Please also utilize our website, www.stroseschool.com, which is updated regularly.

Enjoy your last official weekend of Summer. I will be at the doors to greet your children Wednesday morning and I look forward to seeing all of you in the days ahead.

Basketball registrations are due by SEPTEMBER 6th. All students in 5th- 8th grades are encouraged to register for a team in the upcoming 2019-2020 season. We are fielding a boys junior varsity team (5th/6th grades), boys varsity (7th/8th grades) and girls varsity (5th-8th grades).  Click here for more information.   Click here for forms.

Summer Greetings! I sincerely trust that this letter finds each member of our SRS family enjoying the final days of summer vacation; and anxiously looking forward to launching the 2019-2020 school year! We have been busy preparing classrooms, and hallways to welcome our students on August 28th! They will find many new additions, throughout our hallways, to remind them that we believe that they can achieve great things every day; and sometimes that is as simple as “being the reason someone smiles” that day!

FACULTY NOTES
The St. Rose School Faculty gathered this morning for Mass in the church celebrated by Monsignor Weiss which set the tone for a peaceful and productive day of meetings. We are delighted that a majority of our talented, dedicated and motivated Faculty members are returning this year. Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Melinda Vieux, our new 4th grade teacher.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS
Registration is now open!





Beginning in October, St. Rose will again be offering Homework and Tutoring support after school each day, from 3pm - 4pm, as a resource for students in grades 2 thru 8. Registration forms are sent out in the school newsletter throughout the year and you can select - with payment - the days that you want your child to attend.  Read more...

WEEKLY FEATURE:
WELCOME TO THE INNOVATION LAB

Computers play a significant role in current school and personal life. But as with all things, balance is key. Our goal is to educate students in the proper use of computers so they can maximize the benefits without suffering any consequences.

Introducing the Innovation Lab, formerly known as the Computer Room. Here all students in K-8 will meet under the guidance of Mrs. Quinn to learn key computer skills and, over time, become proficient in important programs such as Power Point, Excel and Word. The first semester will be dedicated to brushing up on important computer skills which are an integral foundation to many applications. In the second semester Mrs. Quinn will begin implementing innovation activities that enhance students' computer IQ and prepare them for a myriad of school and eventual career opportunities.

Mrs. Quinn is also the Director of In House Technology which makes her an important resource for St. Rose School Faculty and students. 

This is an exciting addition to the St. Rose School curriculum that will impact students and faculty in positive ways. Stay tuned for updates from the Innovation Lab.

BUS/CAR WALK PROCEDURE

The newly paved parking lot is beautiful and...safe! Sidewalks and illumination are wonderful additions that have led to new protocols for bus and car walk arrival/departure procedures. We appreciate your cooperation which guarantees safety and efficiency for all involved. Click here for details.
