$18.5 Million in AmeriCorps Funding for Wisconsin!

Serve Wisconsin is proud to announce that Wisconsin has received over $18.5 million in AmeriCorps funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency for volunteering and service programs.

The State Formula and Competitive funding will place 743 members statewide to tutor children, serve in summer camps for disabled children, address the opioid epidemic and meet many other community needs. In addition, part of our State Formula allocation will be awarded to four organizations to develop and implement AmeriCorps programs. Hopefully next year we will have four new AmeriCorps programs that will reach underserved, rural areas, engage seniors and fight the obesity crisis.

Member Reflection: Elisa Steinmetz,
Marshfield Clinic AmeriCorps Volunteer Wisconsin

"When I was seven years old I sat on Santa's lap and told him I didn't want anything for Christmas. Instead, I wanted him to give bags of groceries to the homeless people around the world. I saw Santa cry that day and from then until the day he passed away, he would occasionally stop by my house to see how I was doing. For as long as I can remember, I've cared deeply about helping the homeless. So it's no surprise that I became an AmeriCorps member in order to build volunteer support for the Eau Claire Area School District (ECASD) Homeless Program."
