Overall power consumption of IMP-3654-B1-R measured as follows: in idle mode 6.6W min, 8.3W typ, 8.8W max; with load 46.2W typ and 69.7W max. With such average / typical load, power consumption of Impact’s IMP-3654-B1-R is 98% lower than Core i9-based Apple laptop MacBook Pro 16 2019 (laptop with built-in fans) and about 85% lower than Core i7-based Lenovo laptop Yoga C940-15IRH (of fanless construction).
Notebookcheck recorded surface temperatures just under +30C when idling on desktop for just over an hour. When under maximum processor stress, the large heat sink can become as warm as +43C to +53C as shown by their temperature maps. However, because of the throttling behavior of the system (due to combination of a fanless chassis design and motherboard’s purposeful limitation of the Turbo mode), chassis surface temperatures eventually fall and stabilize from the aforementioned +53C to just +39C (102F).
