As all of you are coming back onto campus Thursday, be sure to stop by the Student Center from 9 a.m, to 2 p.m. for some free snacks, drinks, games, and DCC giveaways.
1st Game | Fast Pitch Inflatable: We will have a contest between males and females. You will get three attempts to throw your fastest pitch. We will have a radar gun tracking the speed. You can throw however you would like. At the end of the day, the male and female with the fastest pitch wins $100 cash.
2nd Game | Corn Hole Trick Shot: We will have a car parked on the sidewalk above the Student Center. You will have to toss the bag over the car and try to make it in the hole. You will not be able to see the hole. You’re welcome to get friends to help you judge the throw. The first person to hit it wins $100 cash. Show up early!
Bonus: The Danville Braves are allowing students entry to any home game from August 18 to August 22 for only $2 for general admission tickets. Let’s fill the seats with DCC Knights!

Taking His Passion From K-12 to Higher Education
Virginia's Community Colleges' FastForward Career Coaches come from all walks of life. Some were career switchers, who always had a passion for helping people but never found the right opportunity to do so. Others were lifelong educators bound to be leaders, mentors and coaches for their students and clients.
Chad Younger, a FastForward Career Coach at
Danville Community College, falls in the latter category.

Phi Theta Kappa is still collecting books for Third World countries through Better World Books. Just make sure the copyright is no older than 10 years as Better World Books will not accept those. Donated textbooks can be dropped off in the collection box in the first floor hallway of the Temple Building.
PTK is also collecting books for the veterans to take up to the VA in Salem. Drop those off at Ms. Gott's office in the Temple Building, Room 111, and they will be arranged for delivery to the VA. Donations for this drive are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Want to be a Tutor?
Have you ever considered becoming a tutor but were afraid you couldn't because you didn't know '"everything''? You don't have to know "everything." Stop by the Tutoring Center, located in the Learning Resource Center, and talk with Dr .Violeta Howard and some of DCC's current tutors for information about becoming a tutor.
DCC's Tutoring Program is certified by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA), and your participation would look great on your transfer application or résumé.

The safety of our students is at the forefront of our minds as we strive to give you the best experience possible during your time at the college.
To that end, the college would like to take this opportunity to remind you of our policies regarding on-campus emergencies and weather-related closures or delays.
In order to ensure you have the most up-to-date information available, please take a moment to sign up for
DCC Alert

This is the college's first line of communication to let you know when something has happened that affects you such as a closing due to a weather event.
