Rezone Vote Brings Distillery a Step Closer to Opening in Old Train Depot
One of Wasau, Wisconsin’s most iconic buildings is in line to soon get a new life as a distillery. The train depot will be home to the Central Time distillery, owned and run by Dan Weber. The city planning commission on Tuesday voted to rezone the property the depot is on to a Unified Development District, which will allow for the operation of the business. (Wausau Daily Herald) 
Long Beach, California to Get its First Distillery in 2018
Long Beach is landing its first distillery next year, called Portuguese Bend. The effort was launched by a group of investors that include Luis and Brenda Navarro, owners of Lola’s Mexican Cuisine and the Social List in the LBC. Portuguese Bend is their first venture outside of the restaurant business. (Eater Los Angeles) 
Eastside Teams with Country Star on Redneck Riviera Spirits
Eastside Distilling and John Rich, the multi-platinum singer/songwriter/producer and one-half of the award-winning duo Big & Rich, announced the signing of an exclusive global spirits licensing agreement with Rich’s burgeoning Redneck Riviera lifestyle brand. (Digital Journal)
Heritage Distilling Opens Fourth Location
Cheri Marusa, president of the Roslyn Downtown Association (RDA) in Roslyn, Washington, was searching for an anchor tenant for the historic NWI (Northwestern Improvement Co.) building in Roslyn which the RDA put a down payment on in 2011 and finished paying off in 2012. On Saturday, Marusa’s vision for the building was realized when Heritage Distilling opened its fourth location in 10,000 square feet of the NWI Building. The space includes a large gift shop featuring a tasting bar and products ranging from clothing to spirits, as well as other tasting bars, private rental spaces and a production area with six operating stills. Tour Highlights Role of Missouri Wood in Spirits Production
Many of the world’s finest whiskeys and wines begin in Missouri’s hardwood forests.
University of Missouri Extension forester Hank Stelzer shared Missouri’s role in wine and spirit production during the recent White Oak, Whiskey & Wine tour. Due to popular demand and positive reviews, Stelzer plans to make it an annual event. (The Caldwell County News)

Locals sometimes refer to Fletcher Place as “Indy’s best angle.” But in the past few years, a transformation has taken place in the strip that was once overlooked as just a route bridging downtown and Fountain Square. Now, Fletcher Place is a destination in its own right—full of thriving businesses and restaurants. Both 12.05 Distillery and Repeal Restaurant can transport you back to a time when mobsters were king and Prohibition was officially no more. (CBS-4 Indy)
Dry Land Distillers Use Local and Indigenous Ingredients
As part of the ever-growing trend to use as many local products as possible, the upcoming Dry Land Distillers is planning a whiskey made with Colorado heirloom wheat and a spirit made from prickly-pear cactus. Those will be the first to roll out of the Longmont distillery when the venue launches this coming spring. (Westword)
Chattanooga Releases New Experimental Whiskeys
Several months back, Tennessee-based Chattanooga Whiskey debuted a new experimental whiskey series, with its first release referred to as a “high malt” whiskey. The distillery is now back again with two new releases from this lineup, including one with smoked malt as part of the mash bill. (The Whiskey Wash)
