Meet the new library director!
Schedule of new director's meet-and-greets
Michelle Boisvenue-Fox, the new director of Mesa County Libraries, invites Mesa County residents to a series of informal meet-and-greet events where they can learn more about her and share any thoughts or ideas they have about their local libraries.

Meet-and-greets are scheduled at all eight Mesa County Libraries locations.

The first events happen this coming week at the Central Library in Grand Junction ( 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20) and at the Collbran Branch ( 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Aug. 24).

Discovery Garden to host presentation about residential irrigation systems Aug. 24

Take the guesswork out of your residential irrigation system by attending a presentation, “Demystifying Small-Scale Residential Irrigation Systems,” at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, in the Mesa County Libraries Discovery Garden, Fifth Street and Chipeta Avenue in Grand Junction.

Landscape architect Rob Breeden of the Mesa Conservation District and Nvision Design Studio will cover a variety of topics relating to residential irrigation systems.

There's always something happening at Mesa County Libraries. From kids' events, to teen gatherings, to book clubs and informational presentations for adults, your local libraries host a wide variety of high-quality programs -- and they're all open to the public at no charge!

Here are a few programs coming up:

Neighbors Read Family Story Time, featuring songs about the moon performed by local musician Willie De Ford -- 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, in the Central Library Children's Area

River of Life: Exploring Wildlife along the Colorado River, a presentation by local photographer Rick Ahern about his explorations along the river -- 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Palisade Branch

Do You Know Whether There Will Be Weather Today Or Tomorrow?, a presentation by National Weather Service meteorologist Matthew Aleksa about local weather, the difficulties of forecasting in our area, and some of the dangers associated with weather in western Colorado -- 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the Clifton Branch
