Cross Plains Area Chamber of Commerce
CROSSING PATHS
Words of (not quite) Wisdom
from the Executive Director

Hello Cross Plains!

What a beautiful weekend was had in Wisconsin! Whether working in your yard or taking advantage of the newly reopened State Parks, I hope that you were able to get outside and do something that you enjoyed. As always, before we know it, our dear friend, Monday, quickly returns to great us with a new week. Although I love the weekend, I also love the opportunity that Monday offers me; to continue to write my "story". The possibilities are endless with Mondays and the best thing of all is that you get to decide which direction your story takes.

This week the Chamber will be rolling out our Membership Enrollment. I have been working diligently to try and provide our members with uninterrupted support during this pandemic. At the same time, I have been planning for the future of our chamber and our community. I hope that you continue to to see the value of the Cross Plains Area Chamber of Commerce and renew or join the Chamber for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. Last week, I stated that the enrollment would be included in the Monday newsletter, but due to the high volume of information that needs to be shared today, I have decided to send out a separate email with all of the details. Watch your inboxes!

Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. I wish all of you an amazing week and May the 4th be with you!

Be Safe & Healthy!

Kind Regards,

Terra Morris
Executive Director

GIVING TUESDAY

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts and everyone has something to give.
Chamber Confessions
"Chamber Confessions" is where the CPACC virtually meets one on one with local businesses and organizations and finds out everything you didn't know you were missing & more.
We are excited to announce that the CPACC is collaborating with Melissa Murphy and GITYS Productions on this project.

"BACK TO BUSINESS" PLAN

Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) – the combined state chamber, manufacturers’ association and safety council – released their plan to get Back to Business. It is designed to strategically open Wisconsin businesses based on a number of risk factors and offers employers a clear vision for when and how they can begin to operate, once again.
The Back to Business plan was developed with input from a diverse group of stakeholders, including those in business, government and the medical community. Additionally, it draws on best practices and recommendations from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
SBA to Make Economic Injury Disaster Loans Available to U.S. Agricultural Businesses Impacted by COVID-19 Pandemic
U.S. Small Business Administration Administrator Jovita Carranza announced today that agricultural businesses are now eligible for SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) and EIDL Advance programs.
SBA’s EIDL portal will reopen today, May 4 as a result of funding authorized by Congress through the Paycheck Protection Program and Healthcare Enhancement Act. The legislation, signed into law by the President one week ago, provided additional funding for farmers and ranchers and certain other agricultural businesses affected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Cross Plains Centennial
"100 Years of Memories"
The Cross Plains Area Chamber of Commerce has not forgotten the importance of this year for the Village of Cross Plains. We are celebrating 100 years of our amazing community and although the current circumstances do not allow us to celebrate (right now) the way that we would like to, we still would like to move forward with some of our plans.
We want to hear from YOU.
We would like each of you, businesses and individuals, to write a page about a memory you have of Cross Plains

During this pandemic, the need for blood does not change but the number of donations has been reduced. Donating blood is considered an essential need. The Cross Plains blood drive will be held on May 14th. The St. Francis Fellowship Hall is a large open room which allows for good social distancing. There will be additional safeguards in place for the safety of the donors, volunteers, and staff. I would sincerely appreciate if you can add this information in your newsletter, bulletin, community calendar, or social media page.

Red Cross Blood Drive held at St Francis Xavier-Fellowship Hall
2947 Thinnes Street
Thursday, May 14, 2020
1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Requirements:
•   All donors must pre-register for an appointment prior to May 14th by logging on to the web site: RedCrossBlood.org/sponsor code Cross Plains, or by calling 800-733-2767
•   No walk-in appointments will be allowed until further notice
•   All donors must wear a mask. If you do not have one, one will be provided
•   All donors will be screened prior to entering into the room
Extra sanitation methods will be used throughout the site, including complete wipe down of the donor beds between donors.

Since school age kids are not in school, older teens may consider donating. They must be at least 17 years old to donate to the general blood supply, or 16 years old with parental/guardian consent, and must be in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds.

Thank you for those that are willing and able to help during these stressful times.
