Happy 1st Day of School! I know today can bring excitement, angst, and a whole spectrum of other emotions for both parents and kids. Whatever you and your student were feeling this morning, I truly hope that both of you had a great day.
One of my favorite things about our first day of school is the Senior Breakfast and Senior Walk. The event is a great way to honor our Seniors, and this morning was no exception. Lovejoy parents are an amazing group who give their time and resources so that our students have an incredible experience. I want to say a special "Thank You" to all who helped make this morning such a memorable one.
As you visit with your student tonight about their first day, please let us know if you have any concerns that come up. Also, please also feel free to share any positive feedback so we know what things are working.

The first day of school has begun! If students would like to request a schedule change, the link will be posted in their "Class of..." Google Classroom accounts. This opened at 4:15 today, August 19th. We will try to honor all requests but please know that we will prioritize by Seniors, and work our way down. Thank you for your patience as we try to help students get the best schedule possible.

Your student will need go to the counselors office upon their return for a copy of their schedule before they can attend any of their classes.
Parent Drop Off and Pickup
The drop off and pick up point for students is on the North side (or rear) of LHS. There is no student pick-up in the front of the school as this area is for buses only. Please do not park in the front LHS parking area to pick up your students.
Both before and after school, parents should enter using the WEST entrance (closest to Angel Parkway) and proceed around the back of LHS. Traffic during the first few days of school is always heavier so please be patient as you wait in line.
New! Jr./Sr./Dual Credit Parent Night
We will be holding a Junior/Senior Parent Night on Thursday, August 29th in the LHS Auditorium. The times will be as follows:
- Juniors - 6:30-7:00 pm
- Seniors - 7:00 -7:30 pm
- Dual Credit Sr's - 7:30 - 8:00 pm.
All juniors and seniors, as well as their parents, are welcome to come. We will discuss:
- How to prepare for college your junior year
- Class Rank/Exclusions
- Senior year what to expect
- Dual Credit Classes/Scheduling, etc.
Underclassmen school pictures will be this Wednesday and Thursday, August 21-22, during your son/daughter's social studies class. Student's photo will be used for purchases, student IDs and yearbook The photo schedule will go as follows:

Save the Date - Leopard Friday 9/13
On Leopard Friday the Courtyard at Lovejoy High School will be transformed into a showcase of our students, clubs, community and organizations. Food trucks will be here to provide your family the opportunity to purchase a delicious pre-game dinner. There will be something for everyone, regardless of age. Don't miss out on the fun!
Notes from the Nurse- Medication:
If your child is going to take medication at school during the 2019-2020 school year, you will need to complete a new medication sheet and bring a SMALL or travel size bottle of over the counter medicine or the original prescription bottle, that is not expired. Medications and action plans for 2019-2020 school year can be dropped off at the nurses office during school hours.

Student Parking 2019-20
Seniors who have not picked up their hang tags for their parking spots can do so at the school store.
Please bring the following items with you:
- Proof of purchase
- Proof of the auto insurance
- Completed parking application
- Take a picture of your bumper showing your license plate
- Bring your driver's license with you
VOE (Verification of Enrollment)
Students needing a VOE for their DL or permit can pick them up in the counselor's office during school hours.
Class Rank on Transcript
Parents of Rising Seniors (Class of 2020):
Lovejoy ISD is a non-ranking district with the exception of the required Top 10%. Student transcripts are reported without rank, unless the student requests to have rank reported. Once a student submits a request to report rank, the decision is considered final unless the student requests a review of their request for an exception to change their ranking status, and all subsequent transcripts will be printed displaying rank.
To request to report rank, please return this form to Mrs. Shaw-Cabrera before September 6, 2019 of the senior year. If we do not receive the release form below, class rank will NOT be reported on the transcript per Board Policy EIC (Local). Texas law requires top 10% designation be reported on the transcript.
All parents need to sign the Transcript Consent Form so that transcripts can be sent to colleges and
universities. The forms are available on Naviance or in the counseling office.

New! Tom Landry Classic
Mark Your Calendars! LHS Varsity football opens the 2019 football season against the Colleyville Heritage Panthers at Allen's Eagle Stadium in the Tom Landry Classic on Saturday, August 31 at 7:00 PM. Join us as we support Leopard football, cheer, band, color guard and the Majestics. Bring everyone you know and let's fill the stands.
Proceeds from the game will fund scholarships for Lovejoy students. The more fans we have on our side - the more scholarships our students will receive.
Tickets will be available for purchase at LSH the week prior to the game and at the stadium 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
