Here's How YOU Can Help Us Help Our Neighbors
Volunteering & donating might look different right now, but they're still just as important

Memorial Day Preparations Go On
Despite challenging circumstances, Snyder County Veterans Affairs honors veterans
|
|
Tony Korzenaski, Director of Snyder County Veterans Affairs, is organizing the annual event to honor our heroes for Memorial Day. In a few weeks, groups of volunteers will assist in placing flags on the graves of our fallen warriors. In Snyder County, it will be approximately 5,000 flags in 60+ cemeteries. Flags are supplied by the Commissioners and distributed by veterans, spouses, members of veteran and civic organizations, scouts, students, and citizen patriots. All volunteers will use proper social distancing and safety guidelines while distributing.
Thank you to our dedicated group of volunteers for helping us share this beautiful symbol each year.

April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month
We can't let it end without acknowledging our amazing volunteers!
|
|
It's Volunteer Appreciation Month, and we're feeling more appreciative for our volunteers and donors than ever. Today was supposed to be our big Volunteer Appreciation Picnic party, so instead our AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator, Sam, decided to spread the love from her own picnic table
#socialdistancing
style. From our VITA volunteers to our Food Pantry Volunteers and everyone in between: thank you, we miss you, and we couldn't do it without you!

- Loss of employment due to closure
- Daycare closure
- Taking care of a sick family member
For more information on this program, please call us at (570) 374-0181. We're grateful for this flexible collaboration to help more families in our region.

FCFP COVID-19 United Community Fund Supports Families Effected by Pandemic
Grant awards totaling $301,300 will be distributed to 33 nonprofit organizations
|
Thanks to the partnership between the First Community Foundation of Pennsylvania (FCFP) and regional United Ways, agencies like CAA has benefitted from the efforts behind the COVID-19 United Community Fund.
CAA has received $15,000 to support our Homeless Prevention Program and Basic Needs Delivery Program. Despite the temporary ban on evictions, many families in the region are still struggling with housing issues; our Homeless Prevention Program will help these families
stay home and never have to experience homelessness in the first place. Funding towards our Basic Needs Delivery Program will help us purchase unique, hard-to-find, or specific items requested by customers in need.

Pennsylvania DHS COVID-19 Response to Assistance
How is the state addressing the impact of the pandemic on people with low income?
|
|
The Commonwealth has taken several courses of action to provide supportive services to people living with low income during this time of heightened need. Leaders are working internally and with providers and partners around the Commonwealth to make adjustments to assistance programs as necessary.
Processes have been implemented to ensure continued coverage so that individuals do not lose critical assistance during this time, including but not limited to health care, cash assistance, and food assistance.
