Key Learning Outcomes:

Culture Days Inspiration
Looking for ideas on what to do during Culture Days? Check out this cool "community arts tile mural" that Indian Head completed a few years back. What an easy and fun arts collaborative for the entire community to be a part of! And it remains a legacy in the community, as the piece sits attached to the Grant Theatre and is visible to people passing by!

Check out culturedays.ca to learn how to get involved in Culture Days on Sept. 27-29, 2019!

Orange Shirt Day: Every Child Matters!
September 30 is Orange Shirt Day. The date was chosen because it is the time of year in which children were taken from their homes to residential schools, and because it is an opportunity to set the stage for anti-racism and anti-bullying policies for the coming school year. It also gives teachers time to plan events that will include children, as we want to ensure that we are passing the story and learning on to the next generations.

Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.

Grant Writing Tip of the Month: Avoid Fund-Chasing
Fund-chasing occurs when a non-profit organization applies for a grant just because the money is available, not because the work will promote the organization’s mission. Yes, this does put money into the operations; however, it can also distract an organization from its true mandate. Replace fund-chasing with careful planning, time management and wise spending.
