Congratulations to the following winners of the
Neuroethics Essay Contest. Each author received a 1-year membership to the INS and has been invited to be recognized at the
2019 INS Annual Meeting in Chicago, thus earning the opportunity to receive a $250 travel stipend donated by Dr. Michael Patterson.

We would also like to thank the
International Youth Neuroscience Association (IYNA) and its leadership for helping the INS open the essay contest to high school students for the first time, and for their judicious efforts reviewing the dozens of high-quality submissions received from high school students located around the world.
The IYNA intends to publish all qualifying essays submitted to the high school contest category in the
IYNA Journal. We encourage you to learn more about them and consider contributing to their journal.

Working at the intersection of brain science, law and ethics
|
|
Jennifer Chandler is internationally recognized for her research and writing in the law and ethics of brain sciences. She will be moderating a panel discussion on 'Incapable Patients and Psychiatric Neurosurgery: What do Law and Ethics Have to Say?' at the 2019 INS Annual Meeting on Friday, October 18.
She talks about how she learned to love neuroethics and the upcoming annual meeting in a brief
interview.

Sixth Presenter Named and the Complete List of Abstracts

We are proud to announce that
Timothy Brown, University of Washington, is the final speaker to be invited to give an oral presentation at the INS annual meeting. Brown is one of six people presenting as part of the concurrent sessions 3:00–4:00pm on Thursday, October 17 showcasing the high-quality research being conducted by members.

presentations is also now published on the website. Familiarize yourself with the topics and authors, and identify your can't-miss posters.
Posters will remain up throughout the meeting and authors will be giving verbal presentations for judges and attendees during the two scheduled times around the lunch hour on Thursday and Friday. Be sure to support all the hard work by these investigators!
If you are interested in serving as a poster judge, please contact INS staff by email (administrator@neuroethicssociety.org). Identify during which session(s) — Thursday, 12:15–1:30pm, and Friday, 11:30am–12:30pm — you will be available to review posters, listen to presentations, give feedback, and nominate authors for recognitions and awards.
