Today was Chromebook Day in 4th Grade!
Today was the much anticipated day when SFX 4th graders were able to use their Chromebooks for the very first time. The looks on their faces when they opened them was priceless! They were practically glowing with excitement! Happy learning Grade 4!
On behalf of St Francis Xavier School, we sincerely thank the SFX Class of 2019
for their generous graduation gift to their alma mater!
Our beautiful new carpet is a wonderful way to welcome all and show our Falcon Pride! #SFXfalconpride
Picture Day is TOMORROW, September 5th!

Van Gogh School Photographers will be on the Joyce Hall stage taking student, faculty and staff pictures. Students may be out of uniform, including those who have PE that morning.

Pictures are taken against a green screen, therefore, it is recommended NOT to wear green.

This year we are continuing a PRE-PAY picture program . Order envelopes have been sent home with each child. Please use a separate envelope for each child. Return the envelope with your order and payment prior to or on the morning of pictures. Prepaid order envelopes can NOT be accepted at school after picture day and will be returned to parents.

Homeroom teachers will hold order envelopes till picture day. Parents who do not send in their pre-pay program envelope will receive a card through school when the pre-paid students receive their pictures. This card shows your child’s picture and the instructions to order photos online. Picture retake and year book pictures will be taken the morning of Thursday, October 10th.

The Parent - Student Handbook is intended to give you — parents, guardians, and students — information about our school that will help us to work together most effectively for the benefit of our students and our parish school. We believe that cooperation between families and the school is key to the children’s success as students and as persons who belong to a community of faith.

Among the topics covered in the handbook are  Faith Formation, Arrival and Dismissal, Attendance, Academic Policies, Admissions Policies, Conduct and Discipline, Communication with Parents, Curriculum, Dress Code, Extracurricular Activities, Fundraising, Health and Wellness, Lunch and Playground, Safety, Technology-Acceptable Use Policy, Tuition and Fees, and Volunteer Opportunities.

Statements in this handbook are subject to amendment with or without notice. The school principal will keep the school families informed of all changes as soon as practical. Some changes might have to be made immediately due to unforeseen circumstances.

NEW VOLUNTEERS
COMPLIANCE IN THE VIRTUS.ORG SYSTEM

The Office for the Protection of Children & Youth has streamlined the registration process and submission of background check for volunteers. Now all volunteers are asked to visit: http://www.virtusonline.org where you will register for a Virtus session called Protecting God’s Children for Adults. When you do, volunteers will also be asked to submit their background check in the Virtus System. When asked to select your primary site, please follow these guidelines:

Day School volunteers, your location is:
St. Francis Xavier – Waiola School

You will also: Download the DCFS/CANTS form and the Code of Conduct form. Complete and sign each form and send to Mrs. Peggy Evans, School Site Administrator/Compliance Officer Your registration in the Virtus site will provide information for a background check which you will authorize on the last page. Step by step instructions for the Virtus site process can be found by clicking this link . The links imbedded in the instructions are not linked. They are for demonstration purposes only. Questions should be directed to Peggy Evans at pevans@sfxlg.org. Thank you for sharing your time and talents with St. Francis Xavier School.

CURRENT VOLUNTEERS
WHO HAVE ALREADY ATTENDED A VIRTUS SESSION

Our school could not possibly offer our children what we do without the army of volunteers who make our special programs work. The work of protecting children is of the upmost importance to the Archdiocese of Chicago and St. Francis Xavier School/Parish. With that in mind, this year the Archdiocese Office for the Protection of Children & Youth requests everyone who has a Virtus account, which is everyone who has attended a Virtus (pedophile awareness) session, do a little updating to their Virtus account to make sure:

  • Your name is the same as it is on your driver’s license.
  • Your primary location is St. Francis Xavier – Waiola School (you may keep Spring if you volunteer at the parish, however, the school should be your Primary location).
  • Complete the background check information if asked.
  • Everyone should be listed as “volunteer” even if you coach. Change to “Volunteer” unless you are employed at SFX.

Download, complete and return to Mrs. Peggy Evans, pevans@sfxlg.org : (unless you’ve submitted them while updating your account)

Once finished, please email me that your account is updated. Thank you and please direct all questions to Mrs. Peggy Evans, pevans@sfxlg.org
