UNM Joins the Advanced Economic Development Leadership Program
The University of New Mexico has become a member of The Advanced Economic Development Leadership Program (AEDL), a nationwide alliance of five major universities offering an advanced economic-development leadership course for mid- and senior-level economic development professionals. The partner universities, The University of Alabama, Clemson University, The University of Southern Mississippi, TCU, and UNM, have developed a core curriculum that specifically addresses the demands of the complex profession of economic development.

The NSF-funded program’s purpose is to teach UNM faculty and students to identify market or product opportunities that can emerge from academic research or student ideas. NM Company Launching Breakthrough Beauty Product Using UNM Technology
K&K Biotech was founded in late 2018 by co-founders Dr. Kristina Trujillo, and Katie Uilk. Dr. Trujillo was a research assistant professor and biomedical researcher in UNM’s Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology for more than ten years. The company’s soon-to-be-released product includes a new, patented molecule that was created at The University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Medicine. Studies have shown that the molecule has anti-oxidant properties far superior to any cosmetic ingredients currently available to consumers and is non-toxic. In the Spotlight – Fernando Moreu, PhD, PE
Dr. Moreu’s main research explores the interface between human and infrastructure, using of new technologies to measure structural responses of structures under (or after) extreme loading events. This research also include results about reference-free measurement of displacements using drones and lasers, as well as automatic structural health assessment and prognosis using robots that can impact the structure, listen to the tap, and classify whether they are safe or not using machine learning techniques.
