Message from our Executive Director

As school and football are getting under way, and pumpkin spice is starting to reappear on grocery shelves, we at Family Promise are gearing up for many things. We currently are serving two families including three adults, six children, and a baby due any day. Read on to learn more about North Texas Giving Day (9/19) and the Family Promise Bed Race (10/5), which are right around the corner!
While we look forward to these big events, we never lose sight of the seemingly small things that really are the most important. When recently asked about how things were going, one of our guests replied that her children were “doing really well, because they feel like they are wanted” [when they are at the Host Congregations]. No other praise could be more meaningful! Thank you for loving your neighbors as yourselves and for showing Christ’s love to our guests.
Happy September!

Welcome Fairview Baptist Church !!

Family Promise of Grayson County is delighted to welcome
Fairview Baptist Church
as its newest Host Congregation!! Fairview Baptist will host guests for the first time in October. Special thanks to Pastor Reid Kirk for embracing the mission of Family Promise and to the many members who attended the informational session in August! Many of our Host Congregations have indicated that in showing the love of Christ to our guests, they feel they receive a bigger blessing than they give. May this be true for Fairview Baptist as well! Welcome, welcome, welcome!

Thank You for the Baby Sheets!
|
|
Grayson County truly is home to some the world’s most generous people! In a recent email, we mentioned that we were in need of baby sheets. Immediately, several of you responded, and we now have plenty of sheets to accommodate the four (and soon to be five!) babies and toddlers that currently are in our program. (It takes twice as many sheets, since we keep portable baby beds at the Day Center and at the congregations, rather than carry beds back and forth each day.) Thank you so much for your generosity and rapid response!
Many of you regularly ask if our guests have needs or if we have run out of anything at the Day Center. We are going to start listing in the newsletter our top five needs for the month. You all are so generous with your time and resources already, so if shopping is not your thing, please skip this list and move on to the next article!
This month’s Top Five items are:
- Low denomination Walmart/gas cards
- Size 5 diapers
- 3T/4T girls’ pull-ups
- Paper towels
- Fragrance-free laundry soap

To help even more families, we need your help! Family Promise of Grayson County is participating in North Texas Giving Day––the annual one-day online giving event that raises money for North Texas nonprofit organizations.
Thanks to an extremely generous anonymous donor, every donation made to Family Promise of Grayson County on September 19, 2019 between 6AM and midnight at
will be matched dollar for dollar up to $10,000! Thanks to you, last year we raised $16,423. This year, let’s work together to set a new record!
You can get started early! From September 9 to September 18, gifts can be scheduled in advance.
Things to keep in mind:
- Donations scheduled between September 9 at 8 AM and September 18 at midnight will be processed on September 19.
- Scheduled donations are eligible for bonus funds once processed. They also are eligible for prizes that are specific to scheduled giving and other prizes on North Texas Giving Day!
