BOTTOM LINE:
When you can’t see the bigger picture, do the next right thing!

Genesis 39:6b-7
"Now Joseph was well-built and handsome.  After some time his master’s wife looked longingly at Joseph and said, 'Sleep with me.'"

Other Scripture referenced in message:
Genesis 39:2-5; James 1:2-3,12; Genesis 39:8-9, 21

Hey parents! This week we are testing the validity of living a life of integrity. Maybe if we can learn to have and see the evidence of integrity it could become more common. This is the goal at least. As we move further into the life of Joseph we still have a privilege to turn the page and see how the intense moments play out. He did not have that privilege. He didn’t know how long the hard times would last or if they had an ending. He could however choose the person he would be in in the middle of them all. He did, and he chooses to be a man of integrity. We are leaving this week with Joseph in prison. It looks like integrity may not be working out for him, until we read a reoccurring phrase. “The Lord was with Joseph.” Joseph didn’t just hear this; He lived with this truth and trusted God’s way to be the better way. He couldn’t see the bigger picture, but he could continue to trust God.
We all should remember the bottom line from last week.
If it is not good… it is not over yet!

CONSIDER ASKING FOR CONVERSATION:
-What did you hear tonight?

-Recalling the timeline of Joseph. Do you think you could still trust that “God was with you”? Why or why not?  (I know that it is all too easy to think that the Christian life is sunshine and roses. We don’t think that if God is a good God that anything bad or negative should ever happen. This just isn’t true! God is looking for His people to be different in storms and trials. This is what brings Him glory.)

-How, if at all, does choosing integrity and doing the right thing affect the people around you?   (This can be a place to remind your family that our ways of thinking should always filter through these lenses. We must consider how our actions impact God and people. It is part of how we love God and love others. Integrity is a thread of evidence that God makes a difference in our lives.)

- What would you say is the difference between God being with you and living like God is with you?   (This is critical and probably my favorite question to help you discuss this week. I think I can simplify it to say actions speak louder than words. Also, we need to be reminded in the hard moments that we are the evidence of who our God is around us (refer to last question). God can take 1 right choice and do an incredible work through it. We just have to be faithful to being people of integrity. God will use our integrity and use it for greater in the bigger picture!)

As a family… use this time of “distancing” to connect. Thank the people in your lives who are people who will love you well. Call out in you the areas that you need correcting! Pray for them and pray to be able to be that kind of person for someone else… pointing others toward Jesus!

THANK YOU FOR TRUSTING US WITH YOUR STUDENTS. WE PRAY THIS NIGHT AND THIS RESOURCE PROVIDES GREAT CONVERSATION THAT POINTS YOU ALL TOWARD CHRIST!
