COLLECT AND READINGS
Almighty and everlasting God, who in the Paschal mystery established the new covenant of reconciliation: Grant that all who have been reborn into the fellowship of Christ's Body may show forth in their lives what they profess by their faith; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

A Morsel for Meditation
We have very efficiently pared the claws of the Lion of Judah, certified him “meek and mild,” and recommended him as a fitting household pet for pale curates and pious old ladies. To those who knew him, however, he in no way suggested a milk-and-water person; they objected to him as a dangerous firebrand. True, he was tender to the unfortunate, patient with honest inquirers, and humble before heaven; but he insulted respectable clergymen by calling them hypocrites; he referred to King Herod as “that fox”; he went to parties in disreputable company and was looked upon as a “gluttonous man and a wine-bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners”; he assaulted indignant tradesmen and threw them and their belongings out of the Temple; he drove a coach-and-horses through a number of sacrosanct and hoary regulations; he cured diseases by any means that came handy, with a shocking casualness in the matter of other people’s pigs and property; he showed no proper deference for wealth or social position; when confronted with neat dialectical traps, he displayed a paradoxical humor that affronted serious-minded people, and he retorted by asking disagreeably searching questions that could not be answered by rule of thumb. He was emphatically not a dull man in his human lifetime, and if he was God, there can be nothing dull about God either.

Rector's Update - May 1st
|
|
Greetings to the saints of St. Paul’s,
Texas cautiously has begun opening back up, and most are looking forward to the day when we return to a more normal routine. Our dog, Cosette, and cat, Vincent, seem quite happy to have the whole family at home, but Cosette really misses the human interaction on Sundays (and especially Sam’s treats).
We received some great news this week. The Parish and School have received funding through the CARE Act for the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program. A special thanks to our Sr. Warden, Bill Rolston, for handling this!

STEWARDSHIP TODAY
Frank McKee-Stewardship Committee Chair
Part of our stewardship is taking time, developing our ability to pray - to communicate with God in Prayers of Intercession for those in need of God’s healing. In practicing good Christian stewardship, it is not time or abilities, or money, but all three, given to make known God’s love for this world. We are healed not to retire from God’s service, but to serve God’s world. We are always called upon to practice good stewardship.
One Minute Stewardship Sermons by The Rev. Charles Cloughen, Jr.

Communion in the Midst of Disaster
But crises do also reveal who we are, because we must respond under pressure. We must also act with an eye to what will come next, while at the same time we make sure that we do not deform or transgress our basic commitments and beliefs.

DOK PRAYER REQUESTS & BOX
The Daughters of the King
support your prayer needs and wishes. Each Sunday a prayer team will be available to pray with you after the Worship Service in the choir area after the 10:30 service. If you would like additional information, please see a DOK member.
They also have a intercessory prayer box on the table in the Narthex to deposit prayer requests. Prayer request cards may be found in the pews and beside the box in the Narthex. Daughters pray daily. All prayers are confidential. Each person is prayed for one month. If you wish for continued prayers, please complete another request card or contact a Daughter. You may call the church office (903-455-5030) and specify it is for the DOK intercessory prayer list. You can hand the card to a Daughter (she is always wearing her cross).
