Happy Labor Day,

I say this a lot, but I can't believe September is here already. If you haven't already, you should plan some fall RV trips. The weather is still nice, and if you are in the right parts of the country the fall foliage can be spectacular.

I lived in Pennsylvania growing up. I can remember as a small boy, our grandmother loading us up in the car and driving through the hills of Pennsylvania in October. She would point out the different types of hardwood trees as we looked in awe at all the beautiful colors. That is a great childhood memory, I still cherish today.

We will be traveling through some of the Northeastern states on our way to Maine, but it might be too soon to see a full display of brilliant colors alongside the highways and byways during our trip. But regardless, if you can, try to get out this fall and enjoy some cool weather camping trips before it's too late.

Don't miss our special 25% Labor Day discount at the bottom of the newsletter.

Enjoy the newsletter, and as always, if you have family or friends who like RVs and the RV lifestyle please share with them.

Happy Camping,

Mark

What is the Height of your RV?

It's important you know how tall your RV is, so you can clear obstacles without guessing if you will make it. RVs have two types of height clearances, soft and hard. An example of a soft clearance would be the radio antenna. An example of a hard clearance would be the roof air conditioner. If the radio antenna hits an overhead obstruction there would be little or no damage to the RV, but if  the roof air conditioner hits an obstacle there will be lots of costly damage.

When you know the height clearance of your RV you can avoid this kind of  damage to your RV. To find out what the height of your RV is park the RV on a level surface, and with two people measure from the ground to the  highest hard clearance object on your RV. (Be careful when working on top of the RV) Post the height in the RV or tow vehicle where it is easy to see and where it can serve as a constant reminder.

Always pay close attention to road clearances, gas stations, bridges, underpasses and low hanging obstacles like overhead power lines and tree branches. Pay particular attention to overhead clearances in and around the campground.
