FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents,

Thank you for joining us on campus for Back-to-School Night, Digital Citizenship Parent nights, and Geometry Parent night. It has been a busy, but wonderful start to the new school year, and we appreciate the time you took out of your own schedules to make it happen.

During the month of September, we will begin celebrating Masses by advisory. Masses will be held in the Chapel of St. Joseph as designated on the school's online calendar on Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m. Students will not be dismissed for lunch on those days, but they will be joining their advisory for a community day meal/activities. We ask parents to schedule appointments around the Tuesday Mass calendar, if at all possible.

As a reminder, our first Parent/Daughter Liturgy will be held on Thursday, September 12, at 7:10 a.m. in the Chapel of St. Joseph. Please refer to the online school calendar for future dates. We look forward to seeing many of you there.

Thank you as always for your support,

Barbara J. McCormick
Principal of Academic Affairs

Interim Week
Exciting plans are underway for year two of Interim Week!

Launched in 2019, St. Teresa’s Academy’s Interim Week, is a time of innovation, creation, and discovery as students step outside of traditional classrooms and participate in experiential learning. In October, teachers will unveil exploratory, hands-on, and interactive courses specifically developed to expose students to new ideas, experiences, and environments with the goal of fostering a pursuit of knowledge that will help students broaden their appreciation and awareness for the world in which we live.

During this year’s Interim Week, January 8-10, 2020, students will participate in either one class that meets for five hours each day or two classes that meet for two and half hours each day. This structure gives teachers and students the flexibility to go out in the community, become engrossed in new subjects, and dive into topics with more depth than they would normally be able to in the time constraints of a standard classroom.

Last year’s Interim catalogue was packed with amazing courses (see photos below) , including:
  • Bugs vs. Drugs: The Problem of Antibiotic Resistance
  • KC’s Art, Literature, Music, and Food Scene
  • Do you want to be a lawyer?
  • The Majesty and Mystery of the National Park System
  • Suffragette: A Discussion of Women's Rights from Past to Present
  • Storm the Castle: the Science and Construction of Catapults

StarCups is back for 2019-20! StarCups is a morning coffee/beverage shop. We are usually open on Friday mornings, but second semester it will be open a few Wednesdays to make it interesting! Assorted coffee, tea and other "morning" beverages are offered, as well as some basic grab-n-go breakfast items, like granola bars and muffins.

Volunteers are needed to set up, make and serve coffee drinks, work the register, and clean up afterward. It's fun and easy, and if you're a morning person, this is the job for you!
