CHARGER STAMPEDE
Arete means aspiring to excellence in every area, be it athletics, academics, or the arts.
Varsity Swimming and Volleyball Begin 2019 Competition Today!

Two more Charger programs begin their 2019 fall seasons today.

Varsity swim will travel to Phoenix Country Day School to swim in a multi meet vs. ALA-Gilbert North, Horizon Honors, and hosts PCDS. The Chargers are led by Coach Andrea Cook, and have healthy numbers out this year with 18 swimmers competing. The team is led by Senior Amanda Zajdzinski, who was a 2-time AIA State Champion last year, winning both the 200 and 500 freestyle. Junior Luke Nicholas was also a state qualifier in 2018.

The JV and Varsity Volleyball teams will make the long trek to Duncan, AZ, as they open up '19 with a region match. The Chargers qualified for their first AIA State Tournament in '18, losing in the first round. First year Coach Catrina Warren has an exciting vibe surrounding the Chargers this season. Warren played her college career at Iona, captaining the team her junior and senior seasons. The 2019 team will be led by Senior Faith Youkhana, who was a 2nd team all-region seleciton in '18. She will be supported by a very deep, talented group of young Chargers. They certainly have their eye on a second consecutive state tourney bid. Volleyball will play their home opener on Friday, as Baboquavari visits with 4:30 (JV) and 5:30 (Varsity) start times.
