PTC 2020-2021 Committe Chair Opportunities
 
The Cossitt PTC has a large number of  committees this upcoming school year that need parent volunteer leadership. It's a great way to contribute to your child's Cossitt experience.  
 
There are volunteer opportunities at varying commitment levels so there is something for everyone. New this year, commitment level ratings have been attached to each role. In most cases, there are  committee co- chairs to assist, notes from previous  chairs passed down for guidance, and additional resources of support.

School Spring Clean Up
 
Happy Spring Cossitt Families! Anyone up for a fun remote learning science class and outdoor opportunity?! 

With the various fundraiser and club cancellations, we were hoping to reach out to the Cossitt Community to help the Garden Club and Buildings and Grounds Committees do a quick spring clean up and planting by the Cossitt Main Entrance.   Although we aren't heading off to school every day right now, we still  think would  like to help make the plant beds and planters by the front entrance more welcoming for the community!  

Please see a Sign-Up Genius link below to sign up for some light clearing, planting and mulching on Saturday May 9, 2020.  We will ensure social distancing during this and will coordinate details and timing separately.

Please feel free to reach out to Patrick Lach or Erin Helander with any questions or concerns. Once you sign up, Patrick and/or Erin will be in touch regarding more specifics. 

End of Year T-Shirts
 
We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during our time away. It is with heavy hearts to announce that our 24 th Annual End of the Year celebration will not occur. Although we are not able to celebrate the end of the year in our typical fashion, we still wanted the students to have an opportunity to order a fun "End of the Year" keepsake t-shirt! This is a great way to celebrate our unity! Here is a sneak peak!  

Ordering the t-shirts will also be a little different this year. With the governor's "Shelter in Place" order, we are going to have families order DIRECTLY with the vendor to avoid contact with others. The t-shirts will be delivered directly to your home. 

HOW TO ORDER:

The cost is $10.50 plus shipping ($3.95 + $0.25 per shirt)
Example: 1 shirt = $10.50 + $4.20 = $14.70; 2 shirts = 2 x $10.50 plus $4.45 = $25.45. 

ALL ORDERS WILL NEED TO BE PLACED BY FRIDAY, 
MAY 15TH BY 12:00 P.M.

All transactions will take place on May 15th  and shirts will arrive approximately on May 29th.   We understand this is not our typical way, but please know that a lot of thought and time went into making these t-shirts "special" during this crazy time.

PTC Executive Board
 
The PTC Executive Board is in the process of slating the available board positions for the 2020-21 school year. The open positions for next year include 1st Vice President, Enrichment VP, Social VP, and Assistant Treasurer. If you are interested in filling one of the open positions, please contact  Dawn Collins by Friday, April 19.  It's a great way to play a meaningful role in shaping your sutdent's experience at Cossitt.

Original Works Order Update
 
Thank you all for supporting the PTC through the Original Works art program!  With the closure of the Cossitt school building for the remainder of the year, we wanted to provide an update on the delivery and pickup of your Original Works orders.  Original Works production facility is located in New York and currently closed under that state's stay-at-home order.  They have informed us that we will be one of the first set of orders to ship once they are able to reopen.  

In the meantime, they have left the ordering site open should you want to add anything to your order.  Once we have a date on shipment of products, we will be reaching out to those who ordered with instructions for picking up orders.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Stephanie Kiley or Sarah Stamatakos.

Teacher Appreciation Week!
 
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week!  And while we unfortunately can't celebrate our teachers in person, you or your kids may want to send their teacher an extra note of appreciation!

Thank you to the CCC Chairs and their committees who started working on their CCCs but did not get to hold the CCCs. 

Thank you to Jamie Bonnevier and Katie Finnegan and their committee chairs who were one week away from the 2 nd  grade CCC, Ellis Island. 

Thank you to Kristen Tagliere and Nicole Boehne, their committee chairs, all who signed up to run an Escape Room, and those who donated items for the 4 th  grade CCC, Extreme Weather. 

Thank you to Kim Hare for fundraising and teaching the 4 th  graders about the Red Cross. The 4 th  grade class raised $549.71, which was donated to the Red Cross before Spring Break!

Thank you to Amy Crumrine and Nastassia Johnson, their committee chairs, and the volunteers who started preparing the Friday activities for the 1 st  grade CCC, Mexico. 

Thank you to Jen Barnicle and Nicole Garrity who kicked off their preparations for the 6 th  grade CCC, Silk Road. 

Thank you to all who dedicated their time and energy for the CCC experiences. Despite the fact that all our CCCs did not run, we are extremely grateful for our parent volunteers. Without you and your support the CCCs would not be possible.
