State of Arkansas
Arkansas is still seeing the number of COVID-19 cases rise every day. Gov. Asa Hutchinson gave his daily COVID-19 briefing from Northwest Arkansas today, a region that makes up a large number of the new cases over the last week, with the virus hitting poultry workers and their families quite hard.
Arkansas saw 190 more cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 7,443. Of those, 1,909 are active cases with 121 hospitalized. So far, 5,401 have recovered. There were no new deaths today, so the total of the dead in Arkansas from the virus remains at 133.
Aside from the usual briefing material, Hutchinson spoke about the ongoing protests in Arkansas and the U.S. in response to the death of George Floyd. He said he supported peaceful protests but said that violence and destruction of property is not acceptable.
