St. Mary's Medical Center and
The Palm Beach Children's Hospital have a new CEO. The hospitals have promoted
Cynthia McCauley, chief administrative officer (CAO), to chief executive officer. In this role, Ms. McCauley will continue to be responsible for all strategic growth, operations and finances for both facilities.
"This promotion is well deserved. Cynthia is a steadfast hospital leader who has demonstrated that she has dynamic capabilities while navigating through the COVID-19 pandemic," said
Maggie Gill, CEO of
Tenet's Palm Beach Group. "Her focus has been on ensuring both
St. Mary's and
Palm Beach Children's remain safe for care, and our community can rest assured we have taken all of the appropriate steps."
Ms. McCauley is a healthcare executive who has worked in a variety of roles during her close to 20-year tenure with Tenet. Prior to her appointment as CAO of St. Mary's and Palm Beach Children's last year, she served as the chief executive officer of
Tenet Florida Physician Services (TFPS), one of the largest multi-specialty physician groups in South Florida.

Nicklaus Children's Opens Specialized Unit to Treat Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children
|
Nicklaus Children's Hospital has resumed regular operations and is adapting operations to meet the current healthcare needs of children in South Florida. The hospital has developed a highly specialized four-bed unit-within-a-unit for treatment of children with
multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C), a complex disorder that is affecting youngsters worldwide during the
COVID-19 pandemic. The four-room "MIS-C pod" is part of the hospital's renowned 40-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, which routinely receives transfers of critically ill children from referring hospitals throughout the state.

Broward based MHS appoints new CEO of flagship facility
|
Peter Powers, FACHE, has been named Administrator and Chief Executive Officer of
Memorial Regional Hospital, the flagship hospital of
Memorial Healthcare System. In his new role, Powers will oversee the 797-bed hospital, which is home to Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute, Memorial Transplant Institute, Memorial Cancer Institute, Memorial Neuroscience Institute and Comprehensive Stroke Center, The Family Birthplace and Level I Trauma Center.
Powers immediately integrated into the system's activities, given his start aligned with
Memorial's public health management of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Starting in the middle of a global pandemic has offered me a unique perspective and has allowed me to experience firsthand the unwavering dedication of our staff and leadership," Powers said. "Our community relies on us during the toughest of times, and I am in awe of how the hospital and the system go above and beyond to offer exceptional healthcare services every day, and I'm honored to be part of the Memorial family."
