WELCOME TO SUMMER!
(and a few updates for our members)
Hello Everyone!
Although we are all still limited in the activities and events that can be held, I would like to let you know of a few Chamber activities in the near future.
First of all, I would like to thank all of our business members who have paid their membership dues throughout this pandemic. The Chamber receives funds to operate from membership dues and chamber activities, no other source.
As everyone knows, facilities are still not open at this point that can accommodate large groups, so ‘Lunch on the Run’ has been started and an ‘online auction’ has been added. The first ‘Lunch on the Run’ was held in front of the Chamber’s Liberty office, May 27 from 10:30 until the food was "sold out" (which happened by 12:30). THANK YOU EVERYONE!
The next ‘Lunch on the Run’ will be held Thursday, June 25 at the Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber’s Dayton office (109 S. Main St. behind Dominos – and across from the Dayton Post Office) from 10:30 a.m. until sold out. The flyer below has all the details, so if you're in the area please stop by; you can also call or e-mail ahead for delivery in Dayton or Liberty (requires orders of four or more).
The Chamber will be on KSHN.com Thursday morning, June 18 at 8:30 a.m. Our guest will be Kirk Moore. Kirk is Auctioneer at Moore’s Hillje Auction, family owned and operated for over 20 years. Moore’s Hillje Auction is a member of Texas Auctioneer’s Association, the El Campo Chamber of Commerce, the Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, and is a Federal Firearms Licensee. Consignment and estate auctions is their business.
The Chamber is accepting items for the auction now, and the items will be displayed on line in the days prior to the auction date of Wednesday July 15.- 6:00 p.m. through Wednesday July 22. The auction will close beginning at 6:00 p.m. on July 22. Go to ‘Moore’s Hillje Auction’ on
Facebook to view the video that Kirk has created to help with registration and the bidding process.
Thanks to everyone for your support, and we hope you're all staying "healthy and safe".
Mary Anne Campbell
President,
Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce

WE'RE GETTING READ FOR ANOTHER:
|

UPDATE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA SITES OFTEN
|
|
|
Here's a reminder for businesses from the "social media experts" that is particularly helpful during the Coronavirus pandemic:
- Update your social media page(s) often. Regular updates keep your business visible to customers and lets them know your current status during the lockdown.
- If your business hours have temporarily changed, or your services have been altered due to COVID-19 remember to "pin" the updated information to the top of your Facebook page where it's easily seen. If your business is a restaurant, it's always good to pin your menu to the top of the page as well.

JOB-BASED SKILLS TRAINING FOR QUALIFIED STUDENTS
|
|
|
Submitted by Lee Waldrop
Teacher / Coordinator,
Southeast Texas Cooperative for Special Services
|
|
|
The
Southeast Texas Cooperative for Special Services provides on-the-job skills training for students who qualify for special education.
Students in the program receive on-the-job training experience from participating businesses and can earn credits toward high school graduation.
Students learn responsibilities such as following workplace rules, exhibiting social skills behaviors appropriate for the work environment, demonstrating the ability to take ownership in the job search process, and demonstrating acceptable performance on the job and in the classroom.
Businesses who hire students receive community recognition for their participation and can receive tax exemptions for student employees (see your accountant for details).

|
Some of the goals of the cooperative employment experience include:
- Ensuring student growth and development by identifying and developing job opportunities and related academic skills.
- Promoting high quality instruction in the areas of vocational employability and independent living skills.
- Increase student and family awareness of services available from community and educational agencies after graduation, and to promote positive public relations by networking with local businesses and community leaders.
The program also provides a coordinated support system for employers and school staff. Area school districts who are members of Southeast Texas Cooperative for Special Services include: Devers, Hardin, Hull-Daisetta, Liberty and Tarkington.
For more information on the program call Lee Waldrop, Teacher / Coordinator, at 936.336.8701, Ext. 7045. The office’s physical address is 1600 Grand Avenue, Liberty, TX 77575.

Save money on payment processing and contribute funds to the Chamber with Clearent Payment Solutions.
When a business, referred by a Chamber member, converts their payment processing to Clearent, the company (Clearent) will pay a percentage of that businesses' processing cost to the Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber. The business will be saving money and at the same time, the Chamber will be adding revenue. This is at no cost to the business owner (and a lower percentage rate).
To make a referral:
Send e-mail to alandry@clearent.com with the business and contact's name, phone number or e-mail. In the subject line, state "LDACC referral". That is all that is needed. Once approved, the Chamber begins increasing revenue. In addition, Clearent will provide a free terminal to each referral. They will get next day funding and an online tracking portal. Please direct questions to Andrew J. Landry at 832.322.6948.
