Hello children and parents! While we cannot gather, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Each week we'll send fun ideas for living & learning faith at home. God bless you!
1) Sunday School Lesson - Ascension
A 2 minute review of the Resurrection, Ascension, and Pentecost!
Jesus died, rose again, spent time with the disciples, then ascended into heaven! Can you remember what he told the disciples to do before he went up into heaven?
Who have you talked about Jesus with?
Have you ever been to church somewhere away from home?
Check out our video and learn what we are celebrating this week!
2) Activity: The Great Commission
Go and tell all the world the Good News!
Use this idea to discuss the video lesson and have some fun!

  • You'll need: a map of the world.

  • Invite your child to look at the map with you. Spend some time looking at and talking about some of the following places:

  • The furthest you've traveled from home
  • The place you went on your honeymoon
  • A place you want to go someday
  • The furthest away that you know someone (ie. friend in England, family member in India, etc.)
  • Home

  • When you traveled, did you have the opportunity to go to church in a new city? Did you pass by a church, even if you didn't get to go?

  • How do you think the people in those places knew about Jesus and loved Him enough to build a Christian church to worship Him? It all started with the disciples! They told someone, who told someone, who told someone, etc....

  • Teaching Tip: Just like Jesus gave the disciples instructions to go and tell people about him and make new disciples and baptize people, Jesus meant for us to do the same thing! We are supposed to share the news of Jesus with people near and far! Perhaps your child can start by sharing the Gospel with you, a teddy bear, a family member, or friend.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20
3) Object Lesson: Sharing the Good News
Watch the video - it's so cool!!!
Want to do this at home in person?

  • You'll need: a plate, milk, food dye, dish soap, and a cotton swab

  • Watch this video to see how this is presented, then wow your kids, friends, co-workers, and next zoom conference call attendees with this very cool demonstration!

  • Teaching Tip: Jesus told his disciples to go and tell everyone the good news, even to the ends of the Earth. They couldn't possibly accomplish this through their own strength or power. And neither can you! When you aren't sure how to share the good news of Jesus with someone, ask God for help! He'll do the hard work for you! (Maybe even use this incredible object lesson to get started!)
4) Kids' Church - LIVE! NEW TIME!
Set your alarm for Sunday at 9:30am.
Raise your hand if you want your child to have a relationship with Jesus!

Join Katie Freer and Lesli Drewry for a Kids Church lesson online! We'll have music, a game, a Bible lesson, and a chance to check-in and say hi! Invite your friends and spread the word.

Look for the Zoom link in the Sunday morning email.
5) Challenge Time!
Make a disciple! It's not as hard as you think.
A Parents Heart: Teach Diligently Deuteronomy 6:7

When you think of the different activities that this encompasses, it is really exciting to think of all the teaching opportunities we have as parents. This helps me to see even more the time I spend with my daughters as such a valuable treasure.

Jesus told us to go and make disciples. God also told us that we are to share His commandments and teaching with our children - not just on Sunday morning, but all the time! So the first place you as a parent are supposed to share God's good news is at home.
