ERIC SLOANE RARE BOOKS FOR SALE  
AT KENT MEMORIAL LIBRARY

A number of fine books by and about famed artist Eric Sloane, including  
FOR SPACIOUS SKIES, signed by Sloane; and AWARE: A Retrospective of  
the Life and Work of Eric Sloane, by James W. Mauch, inscribed by  
the author, are currently for sale in the Library. Many of the books,  
which are displayed in the Library's glass cases, contain full page  
plates of Sloane's distinctive paintings.

The books, which can be viewed during library hours or on Sundays with 
special permission, are part of the library's annual outdoor summer book 
sale, and all proceeds go to the library's operating budget.

 

The Book Sale 2017 season has come to a close. Thank you to all who purchased books, donated books, and helped staff the sale. We THANK YOU ALL and couldn't do any of it without you!  
Watch for our return in May 2018!!!!!!

Remember, we are always looking for Volunteers! Volunteers are needed to do tasks such as: Set Up, Book Sorting, Book Pricing, Table Stocking, Opening & Closing (tarping) and more. Please call 860.927.3761 or sign-up at the front desk at the Library.
 
Book Donations are always welcome! We are pleased to accept your books year round. If you have a large donation, please call ahead to facilitate unloading the books at the old firehouse.
 
We can you give a tax card for a charitable donation. All sales benefit the Kent Memorial Library. We are always especially in need of current fiction, including children's books, jigsaw puzzles, movies on DVD, music and books on CDs, and non-fiction books. (there are particular items we cannot accept, such as magazines, Reader's Digest condensed books, older textbooks, VCR tapes, encyclopedias, books which have a mildew odor, books on cassettes.)

Saturday, December 16 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Henna Workshop. The Kent Memorial Library is happy to present a series of workshops on the ancient art of henna. Henna is an ancient form of temporary body art used by cultures across Indian, northern Africa and the Middle East. Join henna artist Elyse Sadtler on Saturdays from 4 to 5 p.m. for a series of five how-to henna classes to learn how to draw beautiful henna designs on yourself, family and friends. Each class will focus on different design elements used to create beautiful henna art. Classes can be taken as a series or as individual learning experiences. Participants will receive their own henna cone to practice with during the class. Cost for each participant is $20 per class, or $85 for all five classes. Henna supplies will be available for sale after the class for those who wish to further their henna journey. Call the Library for more information.

  Holiday Boutique. This holiday season, make sure you stop in to check out our annual Holiday Boutique! We offer items such as Coffee Table Books, Children's Books, Scarves, Jewelry, Quilted Items, Cards, Glassware, Knick-knacks, Stocking Stuffers, Small Gifts, and Much More! All proceeds go to the Library. The boutique is open during regular Library hours. Monday - Friday: 10:00-5:30 and Saturday: 10:00-4:00 through December 31. 
 
Chess. Our chess boards and tables, inside and out are open to young and old, beginners to advanced. Team combinations are encouraged - for instance, grandparent and parent-child, co-workers, friends. All are welcome to use our chess equipment.
 
Kent Library Association Membership. For more information about joining the Kent Library Association, please ask at the front desk or go to the Library's website and click on "KLA Membership." Join or renew your KLA membership online. There are many benefits to becoming a KLA member.
 
Notes from the Kent Seed Library: Digging up flower bulbs? Consider donating some of your bulbs to the seed library. Just wrap the bulb as rhizome in newspaper with a little dirt and label. Bring to the Library and we will happily add them to our ongoing seed library.
