Local School Districts Focusing on Mental Health

NAMPA, Idaho (CBS2) — The Vallivue School District is putting extra focus on their students' mental health. The district says although support systems are already in place in each school, they want a district-wide understanding of what that support should look like. Staff members say they recognize the need for a shift as they see students across the nation struggling with more pressure, anxiety, and depression. "Mental health is a big issue and students, especially you're dealing with a high schooler, you've got 1,400 students a lot of students that are going to be coming with issues and concerns," Ridgevue High School counselor Laurie Wood said. "It's important that we have the skills and the tools to be able to help them." Read the full story here
