Hello Members,

As we write this email to you we are filled with hope that everyone has been, and will continue to be, safe during this pandemic. COVID-19 has undoubtedly changed us as people, businesses and as a society at large. Vespra Hills Golf Club continues to plan and prepare to be open in May but will only do so if the Government and Health Authorities permit. We have been working on creating policy in order to open with a “safe” environment for our members and guests to enjoy as well as to protect our employees.
Below is a taste of some of the Policies we are considering at Vespra Hills Golf Club.

  • Tee-time intervals will be expanded to every 10 minutes to further increase the social distancing protocols.
  • We are advising 1 player per cart maximum 2 carts per group.
  • We are encouraging everyone who is capable of walking to walk the course.
  • Vespra Hills Golf Club owned pull-carts will not be available until further notice.
  • The Starter will strictly control access to the 1st tee and will notify groups when they may proceed to the tee. No golfers may go to the first tee prior to their booked time.
  • Range use must be booked. Range stalls will be identified with your name and have freshly cleaned golf balls prepared.
  • Non-essential items will be removed from the range, such as bag stands and club cleaning equipment.
  • Driving range stalls will be further spaced in a way as to increase social distancing.
  • Flags and cups will be removed from the putting green. We will place stakes on the putting green as targets.
  • Scorecards, pencils, and tees will not be freely available, they will only be issued when requested.
  • All Golf Shop doors will be locked and only 1 golfer will be permitted inside the Golf Shop at any given time. A greeter outside the front door of the golf shop will direct you.
  • Demo clubs will not be available until further notice.
  • Temporarily stopping club cleaning services, bag drop car service, and club storage.
  • Flagsticks will not be permitted to be removed. We will be raising the bottom of the cup making ball retrieval, without touching the flag stick, easily achieved. The USGA also has gimme circles and other best practices that will be considered.
  • There will be no bunker rakes on the golf course. Please be respectful of your fellow golfers and “foot rake” after play.
  • Ball washers will not be on the golf course.
  • Coolers will not be on the golf course but bottled water can be pre-ordered or purchased from the Golf Shop.
  • Please refrain from licking your golf ball, sharing tees/towels/divot tools, etc.

Some of these policies are a reminder of the way golf started, as a simple game, connected to the land, the sky and the soul. When we return to the game we love, we will return to the very essence of golf. We will use it to reconnect, to reflect, and to rejoice. It will be a simpler game when we return, but it will be the same game, the same game that has endured for hundreds of years.

We look forward to seeing everyone when we are able to open safely.

Stay healthy,

Vespra Hills Golf Club

Course Maintenance

The Maintenance Crew has been hard at work clearing the leaves and branches from the "fine grass" to prepare for its first cut of the year. I get excited about this every single year. There is something about the smell of the fresh cut grass and the vibrant green colour that the grass takes on. The golf course is in outstanding condition and I can't wait for you, our members, to get out there and enjoy it. I have included some pictures as a bit of a teaser!
