It's a lovely summer...now.
We don't know how it happened, but in the last week or so, a beautiful summer has arrived. The temps are moderate, the humidity's down, the sun is shining, and everything looks beautiful! Our gardens are growing, and truthfully, we're not getting much quilting done - it's just too nice out!

We are in planning stages for projects, though. In the evening, with the windows open and a cool breeze coming in, out come the books and magazines, the paper, pencils and calculators, and our imaginations. It's time to start gathering fabric for the new projects you're going to work on this fall. Of course, many of us have a stash to rival a good-sized quilt shop, but there's always one or two more prints you need to round out your project. As you can see below, we've got some really great prints arriving, just when you're looking for them. And in case you're bored with what you have at home, there are some fun new classes on the horizon at Yankee Pride. Check out the beginning of our lineup below, and click here for the full slate on our website. It might just be the jump start you need!

We have some exciting news, for people who can't easily travel to see us - the new fabrics you see in the newsletter are now available for purchase online, as well as in the shop! Just click on the link below, in the New Fabric section, and it will take you to the New Fabrics page at yankeepridequilts.com. We're also uploading more of our in-store inventory, so click around once you get there. We're adding items to the website every day.

Fall 2019 Class Update
Our Fall 2019 class schedule is up and on the web! The classes listed below are starting in the next few weeks, and clicking on the link for each one will take you to the class page, where you can find more information, or sign up online. You can also sign up by calling us at 802/872-9300, or by stopping in at the shop.

Halloween Haberdashery, with Suzanne. She is starting off by running a "Cutting Only" class on Thursday, August 22 from 5 - 8 p.m. This will allow students to get all their cutting done, and when class resumes in September, you'll be ready to sew. This one looks like fun!

Advanced Quilting Techniques, with Ruth and Marti. This is Part 1 of a two-part class. If you're pretty confident in your basic skills, but have questions about or have had problems with some more challenging techniques, this is the class for you. Students will be using Edyta Sitar's "Quilter's Patch" book as a guide, though Ruth and Marti will sometimes use different construction methods than the book for the blocks you'll be working on.

Introduction to Quilting, with Ruth. This is a very popular class! Ruth teaches students the basics of quilting, all the way down to the kinds of fabric, thread, and tools you should be using. You'll make three simple projects over the course of this multi-week class, and you'll leave class with a lot more confidence.

Wool Snowman Ornaments, with Deanna. Yes, it's still summer, but if you want to get your holiday gifts made, you have to start now. These are easy, yet beautiful, ornaments, perfect for gift-giving, or to have for your own tree.

Recent Fabric Arrivals

These are the highlights of recent arrivals. Click on the photo for a closeup, and click here if you're interested in purchasing any of these fabrics by the yard on our website:

Kaffe Fassett Collective Spring 2019

by Free Spirit

Well, Judy decided we needed a bit of Kaffe in the shop, and here's what she chose. These prints are classic - huge motifs, with lots of vibrant color. The fabric itself has a lovely drape, so you can make some clothes out of these too, if you wish!

A Poinsettia Winter

from Jason Yenter

by In the Beginning

These prints are just gorgeous! Jason Yenter is a fabulous designer, and keeps introducing fresh, new prints. The swag border (bottom in photo) could really just be hung as decoration by the fireplace!

Let's Go

by Robert Kaufman

What child doesn't love to drive toy cars on make-believe roads? Pick up a yard of the road print (left in photo), border it, quilt it, and you'll have a great kids gift! There are lots of different kinds of cars and trucks, and even the occasional bicycle on these roads.

Hit the Slopes

by Northcott

Oh, the skiers will love this line! A few allover prints, some great accent colors, and the awesome border print which has mountains, a ski town, skiers, the gondolas, and even traffic headed to the resort. You can have a lot of fun with these!

Good Day

from Me and My Sister

by Moda

These designers use a color palette that makes us smile. What's not to like about bright and happy ? There are some great new designs in this group, and they still coordinate with fabrics from their previous lines. A cute little dress? A baby quilt? What will you make?

Hometown Hockey

by Northcott

It's been a while since Judy's seen some really good hockey fabric. And since we live in New England, we need to have it when we can get it. This line brings back memories of childhood for anyone who skated on a frozen pond. The scenic prints lend themselves to an attic window quilt, or an Uneven Rail Fence. And the border print (below) is just wonderful - make a bed-sized quilt for the hockey fan in your life!

Fusions Vibrations

by Robert Kaufman

Lots of us have Fusions prints in our stash - they're super-versatile, come in great colors, and complement everything. This group is a newer type of Fusions, and we love them, too! The print is very subtle, but textured, and we see them working wonders with your landscape quilts, as backgrounds, and in your borders as woodgrain. Let your fabric do the work for you - isn't that one of the things we learn in quilting?
