We Need Your Help!

Last year we launched a symbolic adoption program to great success (thanks to you)! Currently, you can adopt Mexican gray wolves, Gila monsters, hummingbirds, or prairie dogs. Our question to you: What other animal or plant would you be interested in adopting? (It has to be at the Desert Museum). We can't wait to hear your input!  Please e-mail us your top picks!  Interested in adopting an animal now? Packages start as low as $35 and are good for an entire year.  Adopt Today!

Flower Friday

Would you eat a fruit that looks as strange as these do? This plant, Papache (Randia echinocarpa), is a small tree native to Mexico. The fruits are round, deep green, and have wart-like bumps. As funny as these fruits look, they are 100% edible. According to some people, the flavor is similar to coffee! You can determine the ripeness of the fruits by shaking them. Their usefulness doesn't stop there. They also have various medicinal purposes.   Dig Deeper!

Volunteer Viernes

We would like to congratulate our volunteers of the month, Jean Rosengren and Jaime Lombardo. Jean began volunteering in the Museum's library in 1996. Her positive attitude and helpfulness make her a joy to work with. Jaime has been an Aquatic Interpreter for the last two seasons. She is always willing to cover extra shifts and educate guests at Stingray Touch. We could not do what we do without them. Thank you for being such a great addition to the family.  Volunteer Today!
