Greetings!

Every September since 2007 the Port Authority organizes its Remembrance Through Renewal (RTR) Month of Service program, honoring our colleagues and the lives of so many others lost on September 11, 2001. PARA has joined the RTR program for several years, and once again this year we are inviting our members to sign up to volunteer for one of the 22 community service events taking place through the month of September in New York and New Jersey.

Each of the events has its own designated day of service, and registration for each of these events closes one week before the day of the service event itself.

Registration opened yesterday to sign up for one of the 22 community service events. We ask you to click here for the full list of the volunteer events. Please note that the password to register for each of the events is rtr2019! Please sign up as soon as possible, since events tend to fill up quickly.

In addition to the events described above, this year the Port Authority is launching the inaugural Remembrance Walk & Reflection Ceremony on September 30, from 5:30pm - 7pm. Click here for more details about this on PARA's website.

What is PARA?
The Port Authority Retirees Association (PARA), a not-for-profit corporation, was formed in 1989 to promote the welfare of retirees of the Port Authority (and PATH). That is accomplished by PARA's acting as spokesperson for Port Authority retirees. We foster and encourage legislation that maintains or improves our circumstances primarily as it affects the pensions of the New York State Retirement System. PARA now has some 4,000 members residing in 39 states and 12 countries. PARA maintains an active affiliation with the Alliance of Public Retiree Organizations (APRO) representing more than 350,000 members throughout New York State.
