For the  parents and families of St. Therese Chinese Catholic School

Dear Parents,

Happy fall! This is my favorite season as the daylight hours get shorter, the air turns cooler, and our flag football teams put forth great effort in their games!

We are still buzzing with excitement about our second National Blue Ribbon! Please join us as we celebrate as a school community on Friday, October 19th, at 10am. I am very proud of our faculty, staff, students, and parents. We all worked very hard for this distinctive honor! I truly appreciate each family's commitment and support for St. Therese School.

This month is dedicated our patron saint, St. Therese. We celebrate her love for Jesus which she demonstrated in her little ways. Please join us at mass to celebrate her (and you may earn service hours as well!).

"Safety" is the theme for the month of October.  As a school, we continue to practice our fire, disaster, and lock down drills. Please discuss this with your family and make sure that you have a plan to handle an emergency.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Best,
Ms. Oi
Principal

Students Walk for Water  During "Empathy" Month

Seventh graders made their journey for empathy by completing a Walk for Water Project. Like last year, students learned first-hand what it is like to have to literally walk to retrieve the water they would use in a single day.

At the start of the walk, students were very excited for the symbolic search for water and began their trek with smiling faces. Once at the Chicago River, students eagerly filled their buckets to the brim, in hopes they gathered enough for their 7th grade "tribe." After the long journey back to school, not a single student was left dry or rested. Students gained a great understanding of what others must go through to obtain a resource like water.

Students also took pledges and together raised $815.10 for Water Is Life.

New Front Gate Security System is Complete!

A few unexpected issues added time to our initial schedule, but we are happy to share that the new front gate security system is fully operable. The courtyard gates will remain open during drop-off and at dismissal, but will otherwise remain locked during the school day. To gain entry to the school, please press the gate call button on the EAST gate and announce your name and purpose. You will still need to also press the entry button to gain entry into the school.

Thank you again  to all of the families and friends who so generously supported this important school initiative! The safety of our students and staff remain our highest priority, and we believe having another level of security will help us provide a safer environment for our school community.
