Encouragement Works

Our topic Sunday was on encouragement. We talked about a definition of "encouragement" as to "give another person courage."

Each one of us needs to seek to be an encourager. Beyond that we have to admit that we need help and need encouragement!

We walked through the encouragement the Apostle Paul had for his protege Timothy in the letter of Second Timothy 1:1-14. As we walked through the passage, we boiled it down to 3 big things that Paul did to encourage Tim that we could also do:
  • Listen
  • Affirm
  • Offer Perspective

We also were encouraged again to start a Life Transformation Group

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
Church-wide Worship Night with Bread & Cup Communion

Background info: Our gifted young worship team wanted to encourage our whole church family to focus on our Lord in a special night of worship this fall. Because of holiday scheduling, this November we will not have a Sunday morning Communion expression as we have over the last few years.

Because of these two factors, the Community of Elders has encouraged the adding of a special expression of the Bread and the Cup for our Worship Night on Wednesday. We want to encourage our whole church family to be present and participate in this time of Worship!

Wednesday, November 15

7:00-8:30pm    in the Fellowship Hall

This night will be facilitated by our High School Ministry Worship Team.
Questions or more info needed, contact   Jacob Baumer.

Plans are being made to have a church-wide First Century Communion where we will express all three elements that Jesus did at His Last Supper - the Love Feast, Footwashing and the Bread & Cup on Good Friday March 30.

Julio MarĂn Returns from Puerto Rico

Because of the hurricane damage in Puerto Rico and family ties to the country, Encompass Crisis Response has asked Julio to be a scout to find potential church partners on the island. We received a message from him that he is home safe and his brief comment was:  "Puerto Rico was rough. Everything is literally broken there from the infrastructure to the people."  Be praying for him andBarb Wooler as they meet  to try to determine a plan for how we can form a response by "Doing Good" for Puerto Rico.  Hear Julio's video from the airport prior to his departure online

According to the U.S. State Department's Trafficking in Persons (TIP) annual report, Indonesia is one of the major global contributors to victims of Human Trafficking. With a population of over 250 million people, Indonesia is the fith most populated country in the world. Although rich in natural resources, the nation does not have the infrastructure or job market to adequately support millions of its citizens. Because of this, many Indonesians search for jobs in the sprawling cities, or in other countries. Driven by their desperate economic need, many become victims of human trafficking. In response to this heart-wrenching situation....

Dear Los Altos Grace family,

It was a joy to visit with some of your leaders this week in Long Beach.  I was in SoCal for a brief visit to my grandmother who has cancer and who's days are limited.

Would join with myself, our Tutapona board and the extended Tutapona family around the world in praying and fasting for the Lord's direction about next steps?  Our family is in America but I will be taking an exploratory trip to the Middle East later this month.  We want the Lord to lead and guide us to what HE wants next.

You can see our  "invitation" for our local connections in Wisconsin to pray, but we would invite you to be praying with us from now until Thursday's prayer gathering for Our Lord's direction.

Wow, 2017 is in it's last stretch and I am sure many of us are beginning to ease into the holiday spirit as we start planning our end-of-year events and gatherings. I am sure that we all enter this season mindful of the hurting world we live in and for those who Jesus gave his life.

As I reflect on God's faithfulness in all or our lives in 2017 my heart is filled with gratitude for your partnership and prayers this year in the battle for the souls of Japanese men and women....
