Dear Parents,

We hope you are enjoying the end of summer!

We are very busy getting ready for the start of school. Please be sure to read the information below about upcoming events and activities.

I have also included below a letter of introduction from our new assistant principal, Mr. Ken Wetzel.

We are very excited to see everyone in two weeks.

Blessings,
Dr. Kathleen Cox

Dear SMCS families,

My name is Ken Wetzel and it is with a deep sense of gratitude and excitement that I introduce myself as the new Lower School Assistant Principal at St. Michael Catholic School. It is an honor to have the opportunity to join this family that carries such a rich tradition of faith and academic excellence. I come to St. Michael with twenty-three years of experience in public education. Through that time, I have had the opportunity to work with students from various backgrounds and in multiple capacities from first through twelfth grade.I have most recently served in the Klein Independent School District as an administrator for five years. Prior to that, I served in the Conroe Independent School District as a classroom teacher for eighteen years, coaching football and track for eight of those years. During the next few weeks and months I will be focused on building relationships and getting to know each child by name and levels of academic growth.

A native Houstonian, my wife Laura and I have lived in the Houston area since we met in the mid-90s.  We have two children: our oldest is entering his fourth year at Texas A&M, majoring in electrical engineering and physics. Our youngest is beginning her junior year at The Woodlands High School. My wife is also an educator, teaching Fifth Grade science at The John Cooper School in The Woodlands. We came into the Church through RCIA in 2014 and since then I have felt the call to combine my work with my faith.

Although each new school year brings with it feelings of anticipation, this year carries a particularly strong level of enthusiasm as I eagerly await the opportunity to meet you and begin the work of transforming curious minds into disciples of Christ through an education focused on faith, conscience, scholarship and service.

Most sincere blessings,
Ken Wetzel
