Community Discussion on Giving & Receiving Feedback Well
Join us at the KLSD Learning Cafe on October 11 at John Jay Middle School.

Teachers, administrators, and community members will discuss feedback. Our thinking will be informed by the work of Sheila Heen and Douglas Stone, authors of "Thanks for the Feedback" and lecturers at Harvard Law School.

Field Trips Teach Teamwork and Enliven Curriculum
In the coming months, elementary students will visit John Jay Homestead, Trailside Nature Museum, Gossett Nursery, and more. These field trips support curriculum and character development.

Katonah Elementary School's fifth grade recently visited P | NWBOCES' Challenge Course. While climbing and balancing, students learned about teamwork, too.

Seventh Graders Explore Identity and Build Empathy
I n Home and Careers, one section of seventh graders just completed their Identity Journals--collages and writings that explore individual interests, goals, and values.

This is just one facet of a robust Unified Arts curriculum on identity.

Mandarin Chinese Added to World Languages Department
This fall, Mandarin is being offered at John Jay High School for the first time. The teacher, Chiung-Chun Chen, is a native of Taiwan,

"Mandarin is spoken by more than a billion people," said Chen. "It opens a door to the world and gives students access to a different culture.”

J ohn Jay High School is proud to announce the Class of 2019 Valedictorian Ruby Potash and Salutatorian Jordan Schwartz.
