Why Go Nuts?

Small amounts of nuts can have a big reward! One ounce of nuts daily can help reduce the risk of heart disease. Nuts have also been shown to improve cholesterol, reduce blood clotting, relax blood vessels to allow more blood to flow through and increase mood! Nuts are rich in fat, fiber and protein which can contribute to satiety and lead to feeling fuller longer.

Here are a few ways to incorporate consuming nuts into your daily diet:

•    Eat them by the handful. Grab a handful of almonds, cashews, walnuts or pistachios to enjoy as a snack
•    Use them as a spread, like peanut butter or other nut butters like cashew or almond butter- Just be sure to check for added sugar and salt
•    Add them to salads, oatmeal, sandwiches or cereals
•    Use them to replace animal products like walnut tacos or cashew cheese dip
