District Closed 10.12.18
The Republic School District will be closed on Friday, October 12. For families in need of childcare, Cub Care through the STRIPES 360 program will be available for kindergarten through 8th grade students.

FREE Student Flu Vaccine Clinic, 10/29 & 10/30
The Republic School District, in cooperation with Jordan Valley Community Health Center, is offering a seasonal flu vaccine to any child at no-cost, as supply allows.
The following conditions would prevent children from receiving the flu vaccine: allergy to vaccine components and moderate or severe illnesses.
If you are interested in your child receiving the inactivated influenza vaccine (flu shot), please complete and sign a consent form and return to your school nurse by
October 24th. You may print the consent form,

STRIPES 360 Security Update
Just as during normal school hours, the safety and security of our students is also a top priority during STRIPES 360 programming hours. Because of this commitment, beginning Monday, October 22 there will be new security measures put in place when dropping off and picking up students from Tiger STRIPES at the elementary schools.
In order to gain access to Tiger STRIPES, you will need to ring a doorbell which will let Tiger STRIPES staff know that you are there to drop-off or pick-up students. When STRIPES staff hear the bell they will unlock the door remotely. As an added security measure staff will have a live feed of the security camera monitoring the entrance. The entrance and pick-up locations will remain the same as in the past. A doorbell, camera and associated signage will just be added. As with any change, we know this will take a little getting used to. However, we feel this added security measure will be a tremendous asset to the families we serve. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we move to this change beginning Monday, October 22.

Staff News & Accolades
Look out Ethiopia, these Republic educators are coming for you! The individuals on this team, led by Dr. Yonke, will be travelling to Kore, Ethiopia over spring break in partnership with philanthropic organization, I Pour Life. While there the team will develop a 2-year professional learning/training program for the public school teachers in Kore. We are #repmoproud of these leaders for taking the work we do in Republic to "prepare each student for a successful future" outside of our community and into schools in another country that are in desperate need.  Director of Communications, Josey McPhail has been named to the list of "35 Under 35" school communication professionals by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). Those chosen for this list are considered "emerging leaders who are making a difference in school public relations." Mrs. McPhail was nominated and selected by fellow school communication peers for this accolade. Each honoree will be featured in an upcoming NSPRA communication, and recognized at the national seminar in Washington, D.C. in July. She would like to attribute this award to the entire district team's commitment to effective, strategic and meaningful communication with those we serve!

People Helping People Luncheon
Thank you for supporting People Helping People, Republic (click here to learn more about PHP) again this year. Our annual soup luncheon will be held on November 1st. Lunches will be delivered to your building.
The cost will be $7 for homemade soup, sandwich, cookies, and a McAlister's drink. Orders must be completed using the form found at the link below prior to October 26th.
You will need to get the money to your building secretary before lunches are delivered on Thursday, November 1, 2018.
Your options this year will be:
Soup: potato, vegetable beef, cheesy potato, chili, or chicken noodle
Sandwiches: turkey & cheese, ham & cheese, or chicken salad on croissant

RMS Emailed Progress Reports & Grade Cards Begin 10/19
 To help parents more quickly and efficiently receive progress reports and grade cards, Republic Middle School will be moving to electronic distribution starting Friday, October 19. This means that your student's grades will be sent to the email address we have on file for you on the appropriate dates. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
It's REALLY important we have the correct email (and other contact information) on file for you to ensure you receive this information. To check it out, click on the "Parent Portal" icon on the website or choose this icon inside the Republic School District mobile app. As a reminder, to login use the email address you have provided to the district and enter the password you have created. If you've forgotten it, simply click on the "forgot password" button and follow the prompts. You can find this information under the "Update Household Data" icon. Any changes you submit will be sent to the RMS office for final approval.
If it's the day of distribution and you've confirmed we have the correct email address, but still don't receive the report, check your spam file.
As always, grades will also be available by logging in to Canvas and on the parent portal.

Substitute Teacher Technology Usage Reminders
Below is a list of information shared with substitute teachers on how to use district technology.
Please take special note that substitutes are not allowed to use teacher usernames/passwords. All subs have a district account, and building secretaries have that information available. If a sub forgets their password a tech request needs to be submitted and the password will be reset by the IT Department.
However, long-term subs are set-up differently with appropriate technology and SISK12 permissions. Please work with your building administrator on those needs.

Employee Athletic Pass Reminder
Employee passes are good for free admission to regular season Republic Middle School and Republic High School home athletic events. They will not be accepted for tournaments and district/state events. Passes are good for the employee and their immediate family (employee, spouse, and dependent elementary/middle/high school students). As always, the employee must be present for the pass to be accepted.
