MAP TEST

Your child's Map Test results will be coming home today in a separate envelope. Please be sure to check your child's backpack for the "Student Progress Report" and a quick reference guide to help you understand these results.
SJS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ACADEMIC TEAM

The SJS Elementary School Academic Team is for any 3rd-5th students who are interested. This year the coaches will be Andy Strange & Chris Atzinger. Official practices for the SJS Elementary School Academic Team started on Wednesday, October 10 in the library/music room (see schedule below). The team will once again participate in the NKAL (weekly league matches) and Governor’s Cup.

OPERATION GRATITUDE
SERVICE PROJECT

Help our 2nd Grade Brownie Girl Scout Troop #2025 say a sweet THANK YOU to the United States service members, veterans and first responders by donating your extra Halloween candy November 5 th, 6 th and 7 th.
Our extra Halloween candy will be shipped to Operation Gratitude’s Halloween candy give back program with the help of the Crescent Springs UPS store.

TRANSPORTATION
Please remember that Kenton County will be closed on Monday, November 5th and Tuesday, November 6th for Election Day. SJS will have private transportation on these two days. This information is not on the 18-19 calendar that you received at the beginning of the school year, so please make a note of it.
SJS UNIFORM SOCKS

SJS uniform socks should be white, navy blue, black or gray. Socks must be visible above the shoes. It is okay for the socks to have a SMALL LOGO on them but the socks need to be the correct colors.

Aspire Higher
The Kindergarten students went to Crescent Springs Park. They enjoyed going on an adventure to discover more about their five senses.
The 7th Graders had breakfast with
Fr. Augustine this week! They enjoyed having a question and answer session with Father.

SJS NEWS FLASH

  • GIRLS ON THE RUN

Girls on the Run is returning to St. Joe's for Spring 2019. The 10 week program will meet twice a week for 1 1/2 hour lessons that encourage positive emotional, social, mental and physical development. The lessons work up to the completion of a 5K race held in May. The program will be offered to the 3rd and 4th grade girls, and assistant coaches are needed. Included for the success of coaches are training and guided lessons, no running experience necessary! Please contact Beth Germann if you are interested and available to assist coaching in the spring,  ebgermann@yahoo.com.


  • VIRTUS TRAINING

This safe environment program for children has been mandated by the Bishop of the United States for all employees and volunteers who in any way deal with children in Catholic Schools: therefore if you have not attended a Virtus presentation, then you cannot volunteer - this includes volunteering in the cafeteria, on the playground or as a field trip chaperone. If you would like to register to attend a Virtus session, please go the the website at www.virtus.org. The password is "TRUST".
