C ity Council Candidate Forums
Three districts are electing City Council members in 2018. These candidates will discuss key issues in Menlo Park, including housing availability and affordability, transportation, environmental sustainability, and social equity.

Upcoming Menlo Park City Council Candidate Forums:

  • Tuesday, October 2 at 6:30 pm – District 2 at the corner of Menalto and Gilbert (outside).
  • Wednesday, October 3 at 6:30 pm – District 1 at the Menlo Park Senior Center
  • Wednesday, October 10 at 7 pm – District 2 at the Belle Haven Library
  • Wednesday, October 17 at 7 pm – District 1 at the Belle Haven Library
  • Monday, October 22 at 7 pm – District 4 at Little House

National Wide Emergency Alert System Test - October 3, 2018
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) on  October 3, 2018  starting at  11:18 am  PDT.

The test will assess the operational readiness of the infrastructure for distribution of a national message and determine whether improvements are needed.

Willow Road/U.S. 101 Road Closure
Willow Road at 101 will be completely closed, including the on- and off-ramps, starting Friday, October 5 at 10 pm until Monday, October 8 at 4 am . Ramps will reopen at 6:00 am on Monday.
This closure will not occur during regular commute traffic, only weekend hours and only on Willow Road. The freeway will be open during this time. All access to local roads and driveways will remain open. The closure is only at the interchange, between Newbridge Street and Bay Road, but access to and from local streets and driveways will remain open.

Oak Grove, Crane, University Bike Lanes Pilot Evaluation
After performing a one-year trial of bicycle facilities on Oak Grove Ave., University Dr. and Crane St., the trial is now being evaluated. Join us at the Complete Streets Commission to provide your feedback on permanent installations of bicycle facilities.

AROUND MENLO PARK
Annual Pancake Breakfast
The Annual Pancake Breakfast, benefiting the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation, will be held on Saturday, October 6 , at the Menlo Park Fire District Headquarters (300 Middlefield Road) .

Volunteers will be flipping pancakes and serving breakfast at the Menlo Park fire station from 7:30 am to 11:00 am. Advance ticket purchase is not required, but a suggested donation of $10 per adult and $5 per child is requested.
