Now more than ever we need to collaborate, streamline our business practices, and truly work together for our economic recovery.
While we all know the future may look different in both our business and personal lives, let's be a bit more flexible, patient, and creative to accomplish our goals.
The Chamber will continue to support our community through advocacy and to find resources to assist us all.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued her second extension of Michigan’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order, 2020-59, effective through May 15.
Notable revisions to the previous order include:
- Requiring people to wear coverings over their nose and mouth when they enter enclosed public spaces (effective April 26 at 11:59 pm)
- Requiring employers whose workers perform in-person work to provide at least non-medical grade face coverings to their employees (effective April 26 at 11:59 pm)
- Retailers that do not sell necessary supplies may reopen for curbside pick-up and for delivery
- Large retail stores can reopen “closed areas,” like garden centers
- Allowing some workers who perform previously suspended activities to go back to work, like lawn care, nurseries, and landscaping operations
Except for workers who perform resumed activities (section 10), workers who are necessary to sustain or protect life (critical infrastructure workers), and those required to conduct minimum basic operations, this third Executive Order maintains the suspension of in-person activities.

Grant Opportunity for Rural Emergency Services Training
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is accepting applications for the Rural Emergency Medical Services Training grants (EMS Training). The purpose of this program is to recruit and train emergency medical services (EMS) personnel in rural areas. SAMHSA recognizes the great need for emergency services in rural areas and the critical role EMS personnel serve across the country. SAMHSA plans to issue 25 grants of up to $200,000 per year for up to 4 years.

Star Safety Shield, a subsidiary of Star Ingenuity, located in Mason County due to COVID-19 is now manufacturing mitigation safety shields to meet the rising demand for protective equipment. The company and shields have been featured on both the
