Happy HPS Wishes You a Happy Summer!
Thank you parents, teachers, staff, and students for a wonderful year of learning, fun, and friendship; creativity, adaptation, and resilience. You have been challenged and have gracefully risen to the occasion. You have come together with a willing, compassionate, and supportive attitude driven to achieve the school's goals while ensuring that our children remain the top priority. You have shown what it means to be a Happy Hyde Park Eagle. You are appreciated! We wish you a very happy, safe, and enjoyable summer! To those of you leaving us for new places or moving on to higher grades, we wish you all the best. You're always part of the HPS community.

Bidding Ends TONIGHT!! 6th Grade Art: Chasing Rainbows on Auction
Sixth graders tried their hand at needlepoint embroidery, specifically with a technique called bargello which consists of upright flat stitches. Students sketched various patterns before recreating the design on the plastic canvas squares, which were then pieced together for this happy and colorful rainbow wall hanging! The piece measures approximately 2 feet by 3 feet.
*Unfortunately, the students were not able to complete their square due to the school’s closing, but the Spring Celebration Art Co-Chair, Emily Danner, has finished them up! She used the students’ sketches to complete the desired patterns. Thanks for the hard work, Emily!

Discover Summer at the Public Library
The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County invites families to
Discover Summer
and embark on a summer learning journey! Participation in the Library's summer program is open to kids of all ages and is completely free! No Library card is required. There are several ways to participate:
Youth and families may visit Library locations this summer to collect a free book to keep and an activity booklet. These activity booklets will be your guide to summer learning, containing ideas and inspiration for things you can do at home to keep your brains engaged all summer. Booklets will be available for youth based on age range, so every kid will have access to developmentally appropriate brain fuel.
The library is excited to be providing a summer learning app this summer to complement the activity booklets. The app will give you the opportunity to Discover Summer in a whole new way, track your time spent reading or learning, write book reviews for your neighbors, and earn badges based on how active you've been! The Library is looking forward to connecting with you soon in the digital world.
The Library continues to offer high-quality programs for all ages in the digital world. Check out the
calendar
for all of the opportunities to connect with others. Be sure to follow the Library on
Facebook
and subscribe on
YouTube
to receive the latest updates!
The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County is committed to continuing to offer free summer meals for all youth ages 0-18 through a federally funded program.
Visit the Library meals page
for the most current information on meal pickup sites and which Library locations are currently participating. This information is subject to change, so please check back regularly.
We miss you! Join in the conversation online--share pictures and videos of your summer experience with the library on social media tag @CincyLibrary, #CincyLibrary or #DiscoverSummer.
Research shows
that kids who don't practice reading and math skills over the summer experience a summer slide, where they lose some of the progress they made during the school year. Now more than ever, it is important to help kids keep their skills sharp. Your Library is committed to providing you tools to keep kids learning over the summer, and better yet, make summer learning fun!

Helping those in Need: COVID-19 Relief Continues Throughout Summer
|
Thanks so much for all of your giving towards our Hyde Park School COVID-19 Relief Fund. The fundraising and assistance will continue through the summer months.
We've raised over $3400 and have been able to help 24 families so far using $2850 of the funds raised! For several families with sudden income loss, we've helped provide groceries to bridge the gap until longer term assistance was available. Through your generosity, we are also helping many families get necessities that aren't provided through other assistance programs (like laundry detergent, toilet paper, etc).
The fund currently has about $550 remaining and is growing with every donation. We will continue to track families in need throughout the summer. If your family is in need, please contact Jill Sunderman
at
sundeji@cpsboe.k12.oh.us
or your child's homeroom teacher.
If you'd like to give any amount toward this fund, go to
hydeparkschoolpto.org/help
to donate. We are happy and humbled that our Eagle family can be in this together!

Yearbooks: Coming...but Delayed
|
The yearbook shipment is currently delayed. Unfortunately we do not have an expected delivery date at this time. Once the yearbooks are delivered, we will communicate how they will be distributed.

|
At this point, all spring athletic activities are now officially cancelled. As previously stated, we are evaluating our options to issue refunds and/or credits for your registration fees. Please keep in mind that in a normal world, fall sport registration would be opening in the next 2 – 3 weeks; obviously adding another layer of complexity. As soon as we establish a process for spring registration refunds/credits and a plan for potential fall sport registrations we will let you know. Thank you for your patience!
